X-Realms

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

You may have noticed the X-Boards forums are having a little bit of trouble today. Use this open thread to tell us what you think of our webhosts and any other interesting tidbits you have today.

Update May 15, 1:51pm: The forums are back online!

Friday, November 30th, 2007

The X-Realms movie galleryThe software behind our X-Boards forums (including the gallery) was upgraded recently, and unbeknownst to us the permission for unregistered users to view our movie gallery has since been revoked.

This wasn’t a ploy to force readers eager for the pictures to register on our forums, but simply an oversight on our part. Since all of the staffers are automatically logged in on the boards, we simply never noticed that guests were getting an error message when trying to load the gallery.

After a couple of frustrating hours trying to uncover the cause, our technical administrator Silmarillion has now been able to fix the problem. Simply put: everyone can once again enjoy browsing our popular movie gallery for the latest imagery from upcoming film releases!

Our forums  have been upgraded.  Thank you for your patience.

xrealmsmoviegallery.pngTo disprove the theory that the X-Staff spend every day lounging around in our palacial headquarters sipping fruity cocktails and whistling along to Peter, Bjorn and John,  we’ve been hard at work spring-cleaning our world famous movie galleries and adding in new categories and images.

In case you’re not au fait with our capacious and shiny receptical of cinematic imagery,  it’s a place where we’ve uploaded thousands of high quality images from past, present and future movies for you to browse and enjoy.

Take a look for yourselves.

Please excuse our recent lack of news updates. The performance of our server has been unreliable due to the high amount of traffic we’ve been receiving.

The X-Realms staff is currently hard at work at relocating the site and boards to a new dedicated host that will - finger’s crossed - deliver its money’s worth (which can’t be said of our present host, Dreamhost, which we heartily discourage you from ever signing up with).

We just got a wake-up call from the Nintendo Generation, the Samurai… the Keyboard Cowboys… those that live in the world of the electron and the switch; those that appreciate the beauty of the baud.  Yes, the X-Realms forums (The X-Boards) were hacked today and disabled by information superhighwaymen. Full service has now been resumed although we cannot guarantee that there won’t be another instance of the attack until we do a full security update tomorrow. Thank you for your patience.

Again, we can confirm that no llamas came to harm.

sundangsmall.jpgThe X-Realms is excited to publish the new episode of Mitch Watley’s webcomic, Sundang the Slaybot.

In the latest issue, Cussalus, having barely survived his encounter with Sundang, has made his way to Guddacrumm, haven for criminal types such as his cousin Stinctatang, who has a devious plan to destroy Sundang… as well as Kurmundak, the useless leader of their Starpirate Clan!

Matrix creators Larry and Andy Wachowski’s racing film has amazement aplenty for eyes and ears. But the pure exhilaration is impeded by cartoon morality.

The Impending Oil Crisis

quote I am a little leary of the situation. The truth will come out when, and if the US economy, and the dollar begins to strengthen. If prices remain high, you’ll know someone is lying. Either OPEC doesn’t have the supply they claim they have, or Analysts are incorrect when they say demand has decreased. Personally, I don’t buy the claim that demand has decreased. Population is ever increasing, so, the the demand should always be increasing. quote
