Heroes

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

Bruce Boxleitner (in ‘Babylon 5: The Lost Tales’)Bruce Boxleitner has landed a top-secret recurring role on NBC’s Heroes, TV Guide claims.

Apparently, his role was originally going to be modeled after Senator John McCain. The character has since been reconceived and is expected to be sharing scenes with a female series regular. Followers of sci-fi television, of course, will recognize Boxleitner from his leading role on the epic Babylon 5.

The site adds that although the show is introducing some new faces next season, the primary focus will remain “on the core characters from the pilot.” Heroes returns on air for its third season on September 15.

'Heroes'Following the writers strike induced hiatus, NBC’s popular TV series Heroes is going back on air in September.

SCI FI Wire writes that the network will broadcast a full complement of 13 original episodes without repeats. Heroes returns to the schedule in its third season on September 15. An hour-long clip show will premiere at 8 p.m. ET/PT, with the extended two-hour season opener airing at 9 p.m., its regular timeslot.

Meanwhile, network executives have confirmed that the plug’s officially been pulled on the proposed prequel spin-off Heroes: Origins. “We were taxing our creative team to do too much around that,” NBC co-chairman Ben Silverman said. “We wanted 35 Heroes [episodes] and 12 Heroes: Origins, each of which was supposed to be a mini-movie and backdoor pilot. We reached far and challenged our people, and we decided it was better to focus on keeping the Heroes mothership as strong as possible.”

heroes_lead.jpgJames Kyson Lee, who plays Ando in hit NBC show Heroes  has told SCI FI Wire that he believes that the show will soon be back on track following the disruption of the writer’s strike.

In an interview at Wondercon in San Francisco,  Lee explained that the production team could resume work in June,  or perhaps even as early as May, adding ‘I think NBC is going to do another big push again, right after the Olympics, and we’ll premiere season three in September.’

The upcoming third season of the Heroes saga is called Villains and promises to ‘open up a whole new world’ and introduce a new set of characters.

Hayden Panetierre as Claire on ‘Heroes’Fans of the hit television show Heroes will have to be patient in their anticipation of new episodes.

Aint-it-cool-news received word from someone who spoke with Hayden Panettiere (who plays cheerleader Claire on the show) at the Berlin Film Festival. The young actress told the scooper that even though the strike is over, Heroes is definitely done for the season. New shooting will not start until April which she will arrive a bit late for as she will be finishing up another film in Canada.

This means that Heroes is unlikely to return on air until fall at the earliest.

‘Prison Break’Now that the writers strike is as good as over we all want to know when exactly our favourite TV shows start returning with new episodes.

TV Guide (who else, really) has compiled a list of all the major network’s shows detailing how many episodes from the rest of this season will air and when:

Here’s the lowdown on some of the X-Realms’ favourites: 24 returns either this fall or in January ‘09; Bionic Woman is cancelled; Heroes is still TBD; Lost has six pre-strike episodes remaining with an additional six that could still air this season; Prison Break has two pre-strike episodes remaining with anything beyond that TBD; Smallville has four pre-strike episodes and 3-5 additional ones to air in April/May; Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles has five pre-strike episodes with the future of the show TBD.

HeroesHeroes creator Tim Kring has responded to recent criticism of his hit show on Entertainment Weekly, listing what he believes season two has done wrong so far (and promising swift improvement):

  • The pace is too slow
  • The world-saving stakes should have been established sooner
  • The rookies didn’t greet themselves properly
  • Hiro was in Japan way too long
  • Young love stinks

You can read his elaborations on each of these points at this link (although if you’ve been following the show you likely know the specifics).

Kristen BellNBC has cast former Veronica Mars star Kristen Bell in their hit-series Heroes, reports Variety.

Bell has been hired for a key multi-episode arc of the show’s upcoming second season. The actress will make her first appearance in October playing Elle, a character described as a sexy, mysterious young lady who has ties to the supposed death of Peter, H.R.G.’s past and the future of Claire. Elle will kick off her arc by committing a serious crime, though it’s unclear whether she’s good or bad.

‘This was not easy to pull off,’ said Heroes creator-executive producer Tim Kring. ‘But since we’re an ensemble show, with many arcs playing out through the year, we found a way to jump into a small window in (Bell’s) schedule.’

The Impending Oil Crisis

quote I am a little leary of the situation. The truth will come out when, and if the US economy, and the dollar begins to strengthen. If prices remain high, you’ll know someone is lying. Either OPEC doesn’t have the supply they claim they have, or Analysts are incorrect when they say demand has decreased. Personally, I don’t buy the claim that demand has decreased. Population is ever increasing, so, the the demand should always be increasing. quote
