Bruce Boxleitner has landed a top-secret recurring role on NBC’s Heroes, TV Guide claims.
Apparently, his role was originally going to be modeled after Senator John McCain. The character has since been reconceived and is expected to be sharing scenes with a female series regular. Followers of sci-fi television, of course, will recognize Boxleitner from his leading role on the epic Babylon 5.
The site adds that although the show is introducing some new faces next season, the primary focus will remain “on the core characters from the pilot.” Heroes returns on air for its third season on September 15.

From The Times: Science fiction fans can celebrate the return of a famous cult hit, after plans to remake the BBC series Blake’s 7 were announced. The space saga, which ran from 1978 to 1981, was praised for its dark storylines and gained an international following. After years of lobbying, a revival has been prompted by the success of Doctor Who and complex sci-fi series such as Battlestar Galactica.
The new Blake’s 7 will fly on UK’s Sky One, after the satellite broadcaster asked the holders of the rights to Terry Nation’s creation to develop a fresh series. The BBC show followed the exploits of Roj Blake as he led a band of reluctant rebels against the totalitarian Federation, which ruled the galaxy.

The three-part finale begins with episode twelve on May 15th, followed by the expanded two-hour season closer on May 29th. The theatrical debut of Star Wars: The Clone Wars on August 15 is only a couple of months away, and now the first details on the plot of the animated film have emerged.
In its report on the Toy Fair in Australia Mousedroid.com also published a photo of the back of the Obi-Wan Kenobi toy from the Clone Wars toyline. It features the following text, which seems to hint at events to be seen in the film (or possibly in the TV series which follows in the fall):
To gain free passage through Jabba the Hutt’s shipping routes, the Republic agrees to rescue the crime lord’s kidnapped son, Rotta the Huttlet. Obi-Wan learns that Anakin and his team have found the child and are under attack by Separatist forces. Obi-Wan races to join them on the remote planet, bringing much-need reinforcements to Anakin and his embattled team.

Aint-it-cool-news has posted what seem to be the first details on the planet-bound Battlestar Galactica prequel series Caprica, which is currently being developed at SCI FI.
The exclusive report features an intruiging breakdown of the main characters set to appear in the show, including the father of BSG’s Admiral Adama, Joseph Adama, and his friend Daniel Greystone, the computer designer who will come to father the Cylons half a century or so before they wipe out the human colonies as seen at the outset of Battlestar Galactica.
Also included in the report are clues indicating that BSG fans will finally learn the origins of the Cylons’ monotheistic belief system (which stands opposite to the humans’ belief in multiple Gods on the show).
