The past couple of days have seen a wild rumour about next year’s Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins crop up on AICN and soon after solidify by being backed up by CHUD.
The report very much spoils the big twist that makes up the film’s ending, so fans who don’t want to deprive themselves of the surprise are advised to avoid reading it.
However, director McG has meanwhile indirectly denied the legitimacy of those spoilers, claiming that “there are only three people who know the ending” in an official post on the film’s blog (in which he also gives an interesting update on the filming currently taking place in New Mexico).

Variety reports that Warner Bros. plan to release Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins on May 22, 2009, the start of Memorial Day weekend. This puts McG’s fourth entry in the Terminator movie franchise up against the Ben Stiller sequel Night at the Museum II: Escape From the Smithsonian.

‘It’s post-apocalyptic,’ explains Middleton ‘It’s set after the events of [Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines], where we see the nuclear exchange at the end of the movie, and we show what the world is like after this event, and we show how people try to deal in a post-apocalyptic world, and we introduce a new character, who becomes very important to the resistance and to John Connor, a new hero.
