clonewars21.jpgA new behind-the-scenes webdoc about the upcoming Star Wars: The Clone Wars film and series has been posted on StarWars.com. The short clip focuses on the epic battles of the Clone Wars and the unique battles we can expect to see in this August’s feature-length film, which will kick off the rest of the animated series that will air on Cartoon Network shortly after. The webdoc includes footage from a “vertical” battle that involves an AT-TE and a legion of clones scaling the side of a cliff, as well as an apparent previously unmentioned rematch between Count Dooku and Anakin Skywalker.

The Clone WarsA second trailer for this summer’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated feature has found its way onto YouTube, complete with Polish subtitles.

Although it has yet to be confirmed, speculation is that this is the theatrical trailer rumored to be premiering with Warner Bros’ Speed Racer on May 9. I have a feeling that since this trailer’s quality is fairly high, it may have been legitimately acquired and thus allowed to remain online. But as all Star Wars fans know, Lucasfilm has a history of being little trigger-happy with the old “cease and desist” pistol so click here to catch it while you can.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars opens in theaters August 15, a kick-off to the television series that will begin soon after on Cartoon Network.

‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ posterThe theatrical debut of Star Wars: The Clone Wars on August 15 is only a couple of months away, and now the first details on the plot of the animated film have emerged.

In its report on the Toy Fair in Australia Mousedroid.com also published a photo of the back of the Obi-Wan Kenobi toy from the Clone Wars toyline. It features the following text, which seems to hint at events to be seen in the film (or possibly in the TV series which follows in the fall):

To gain free passage through Jabba the Hutt’s shipping routes, the Republic agrees to rescue the crime lord’s kidnapped son, Rotta the Huttlet. Obi-Wan learns that Anakin and his team have found the child and are under attack by Separatist forces. Obi-Wan races to join them on the remote planet, bringing much-need reinforcements to Anakin and his embattled team.

'Star Wars: The Force Unleashed' concept artLucasArts has finally announced the official release date for the repeatedly delayed Star Wars video game The Force Unleashed.

The anxiously awaited X-Box 360, PS3&PS2, PSP, Nintendo DS and Wii title will be released on September 16 in the United States, September 17 in Southeast Asia and Australia, and September 19 in Europe. Exclusive new gameplay footage will be aired during Spike TV’s two-weekend broadcast of all six Star Wars movies this month (you can learn the exact times on StarWars.com).

An entirely new chapter in the Star Wars Saga, The Force Unleashed casts players as Darth Vader’s “Secret Apprentice” and promises to unveil new revelations about the Star Wars galaxy. The game’s expansive story is set during the largely unexplored era between Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. In it, players will assist Vader in his quest to rid the universe of Jedi — and face decisions that could change the course of their destiny.

Clone WarsGeorge Lucas made a surprise visit to ShoWest in Las Vegas on Thursday to sell theater owners on his upcoming animated feature Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which Warner Bros. will release on August 15th.

Lucas — flanked by six stormtroopers — was perfectly at ease in the large theater at the Paris Hotel that studios use to tout their product to theater owners attending ShoWest.

“I think it can live up to the live-action movies,” Lucas said before rolling a clip of Clone Wars, based on an animated series Lucas is producing for Warners sister cable net Cartoon Network.

Boba Fett is rumoured to make an appearance in the live-action Star Wars seriesStarWars-Union pointed out an article in the Liverpool Daily Post, which conducted an interview with director Jim Marquand.

Marquand’s directorial debut Dead Man’s Cards apparently impressed George Lucas so much that the Star Wars creator asked Marquand to direct some episodes of the upcoming live-action Star Wars television show, which will start production sometime after the animated Star Wars show The Clone Wars premieres this autumn.

What’s interesting about this is that Jim Marquand is the son of Richard Marquand, who back in 1983 directed Return of the Jedi. Unfortunately, the article doesn’t tell us how Jim Marquand responded to Lucas’ request.
