‘Torchwood’ Season 2

kissing.jpgIf you thought that the first series of ‘adult’ Doctor Who spinoff Torchwood had more than its fair share of same sex romance then season 2 looks likely to follow its lead with more of the same.

In the new season,  the Torchwood Institute’s Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) faces a dilemma when rogue Time Agent Captain John Hart (James Marsters aka Spike from Buffy) wreaks havoc on Cardiff in the first episode of the new series and the duo end up in a lip-locked embrace.

Torchwood creator and executive producer Russell T Davies said: ‘The sparks fly for Captain Jack when Captain John hits town. There is a lot of history between them. It could go either way!’

During the 13 part series the Torchwood team - Gwen (Eve Myles), Owen (Burn Gorman, Toshiko (Naoko Mori) and Ianto (Gareth David-Lloyd) - led by Captain Jack, investigate alien activity which gives them glimpses into the 51st Century and World War One. They encounter alien sleeper cells; save a stranded creature from human exploitation and meet a memory thief who exposes long forgotten secrets among the entire team.

Guest stars throughout the run include Alan Dale (Ugly Betty, The O.C); Doctor Who’s travelling companion Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman); Richard Briers, Nerys Hughes and Ruth Jones.

The new series of Torchwood starts on BBC Two , on January 16 at 9pm. Due to popular demand there is now a specially edited pre-watershed repeat the following day, on BBC Two at 7pm.

Discuss Torchwood on the X-Boards

One Response to “‘Torchwood’ Season 2”

  1. Sarah  says:

There was a lot more of hetero sex in the first series of Torchwood than it was same sex. Not to mention the straight sex was far more “explicit” (which it wasn’t that explicit anyway, unless you’re a blushing virgin nun).

    I can’t wait for series 2.

With more creatures than the Star Wars cantina, Hellboy and his cohorts set about trying to stop an Elf prince from destroying the human race. Hey, it’s all in a day’s work for Big Red.

I must admit that I can’t remember much from the first Hellboy movie, other than I liked it. With Pan’s [...]

2008 U.S. Presidential election

quoteI prefer Obama to McCain. Now, McCain’s better than average for a Republican. And though his ads are intellectually offensive, he’s just bowing to his campaign masters and would calm down and be more sane once in office and not campaigning. But I have a few concerns with McCain on foreign policy. He’s not a full-fledged Neocon. That’s good. He opposed Reagan on Lebanon. Good. He was critical of Bush’s initial strategy in Iraq. That’s good. But there’s a problem. He thinks the Vietnam war was winnable and that the US shouldn’t have withdrawn. He’s also eager to spread democracy with force. This just isn’t a good set of beliefs for inheriting Iraq.quote
