We’ve heard names like Guillermo del Toro and Steven Spielberg attached to the director’s chair for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, but now it seems that current director David Yates might just return for the final installment.
Young adult author Lois Lowry - who’s awaiting an adaptation of her book The Giver which Yates was rumoured to film - wrote on her official blog: Bad news from The Giver Movie front. David Yates, the director currently working on the next Harry Potter film, was supposed to begin The Giver film next. But he has just decided he wants to do the final Harry Potter first, thereby postponing The Giver by several years.
David Yates helmed last summer’s Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and is currently shooting the follow-up Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The seventh and final film has a tentative release date of sometime in 2010.
