Baz Lurhmann’s new film, Australia, has has its release date moved back by two weeks by Fox. The move is to allow Luhrmann more time to finish the film.
The new release date is November 26 for both the Australian and US market.

Robert Downey Jr. may soon goose the genre that launched his comeback, reports EW. The Iron Man star is in negotiations to voice a character in Master Mind, DreamWorks Animation’s send-up of the superhero genre being produced by Ben Stiller’s production company, Red Hour Films.
Tina Fey is also expected to join the cast of the movie, about a villain who loses his will to live after accidentally killing his archrival.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Michelle Rodriguez, arguably one of the more polarizing personalities to have ever gotten Lost, is returning to the show this season. Details of her comeback are, not surprisingly, shrouded in secrecy, but Rodriguez is apparently back for one episode, most likely this season’s second.
Rodriguez’s return follows last season’s “resurrection” of fellow doomed Tailie Cynthia Watros (Libby), who appeared in a vision to Michael.

Yes, you read that right! Screewriter Aaron Sorkin has set up a page for himself on the social networking site, Facebook, essentially announcing that he will be scripting a movie about the site’s formation, reports Variety. Scott Rudin is producing for Columbia Pictures.
Sorkin’s declaration, presumably done so he could experience Facebook as a research tool, came as a surprise to the studio, which was trying to fly under the radar on the project. The film will focus on the evolution of Facebook from its 2004 creation on the Harvard campus by sophomore Mark Zuckerberg to a juggernaut with more than 60 million members. The company was reportedly valued at $16 billion last year when Microsoft outbid Google to invest $240 million for a 1.6% stake in the company.

From ScifiWire: Filming for the third season of the BBC’s Doctor Who spinoff Torchwood (aired in the U.S. on BBC America), has begun in Cardiff, Wales, BBC Worldwide announced. The series, created and produced by Russell T. Davies, is scheduled to return in 2009, with a five-part miniseries titled Torchwood: Children of Earth.
“The new series of Torchwood is hugely bold and promises to be bigger and better than ever,” Davies said in a statement. “The audience is in for an amazing ride. This series is one big serial and the most ambitious story we’ve ever made, and we’ve got plenty of surprises in store.”

From Scifi Wire: Mathieu Kassovitz, director of the supernatural thriller Babylon A.D., is seeking to distance himself from the poorly reviewed film, Variety reported. In an interview with AMCtv.com, Kassovitz called the film “pure violence and stupidity,” with parts of the film resembling “a bad episode of 24.”
Sources close to the production, who likened Kassovitz to the mercurial Billy Walsh character on Entourage, told the trade paper that the AMC comments were just the latest in a series of headaches involving Kassovitz. Production on Babylon A.D. was delayed three weeks for personal reasons involving Kassovitz. The director also failed to meet many of his press obligations, retreating instead to a Caribbean island.

Three years after Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars is back in theaters with a new twist. Never ones to let go of a dollar without a fight, Lucas and company kick off a TV series that doesn’t quite feel like Star Wars.
Reuniting for the first time since they appeared together in Kill Bill, David Carradine and Darryl Hannah are starring in Spike TV’s two-part original miniseries, Kung Fu Killer. The miniseries premieres Sunday, August 17 and Monday, August 18 (10:00 PM – Midnight ET/PT) on Spike in HD.
Set in late 1920s in China, before Communist rule, Kung Fu Killer tells the story of White Crane (Carradine), an orphaned son of Western missionaries who was raised as a Wudang monk to become a spiritual leader and master in martial arts, and his ultimate journey for revenge and justice. Beginning in the Shanghai underworld, Crane encounters Jane Marshall (Hannah) a lounge singer from Brooklyn, who is on a mission of her own to find her lost brother.

According to Media by Numbers, Warner Bros. Pictures’ The Dark Knight continues to break box office records as it passed the $400 million in just 18 days. This smashes the existing record held by Shrek 2, which needed 43 days to accumulate that kind of gross.
The Dark Knight coined in $6.28 million in 4,266 cinemas on Monday, increasing its overall haul to $400,038,494. The movie has reached the #8 spot already on the all-time domestic blockbuster list and will surpass Spider-Man ($403.7 million) on Tuesday.
Globally, despite not yet being released in all major markets, The Dark Knight has earned $202.5 million with the worldwide box office standing at $602.5 million.
With more creatures than the Star Wars cantina, Hellboy and his cohorts set about trying to stop an Elf prince from destroying the human race. Hey, it’s all in a day’s work for Big Red.

2008 U.S. Presidential election
I prefer Obama to McCain. Now, McCain’s better than average for a Republican. And though his ads are intellectually offensive, he’s just bowing to his campaign masters and would calm down and be more sane once in office and not campaigning. But I have a few concerns with McCain on foreign policy. He’s not a full-fledged Neocon. That’s good. He opposed Reagan on Lebanon. Good. He was critical of Bush’s initial strategy in Iraq. That’s good. But there’s a problem. He thinks the Vietnam war was winnable and that the US shouldn’t have withdrawn. He’s also eager to spread democracy with force. This just isn’t a good set of beliefs for inheriting Iraq.
