bebop1.jpgiF Magazine announced last week that a live-action adapation of Sinichiro Wantanabe’s beloved anime Cowboy Bebop is officially in development, with Erwin Stoff producing. Rumors abound today that none other than Keanu Reeves is attached to play the lead role of Spike Spiegel. The project is being fast-tracked for a 2010 release, with Stoff assuring fans that this live-action version will remain faithful to the source material (unlike one Dragonball project.) Cowboy Bebop, a very Westernly anime renowned for its almost entirely jazz soundtrack, follows the adventures of three bounty hunters aboard their spaceship, the Bebop as they try to simultaneously make a living and settle scores with the demons of their pasts. It is frequently hailed as one of the best anime series of all time. A full length animated movie also known as Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door saw a limited release in 2003.

monsterssmall.jpgVariety reports that Twentieth Century Fox filmed entertainment chair Jim Gianopulos,  DreamWorks Animation boss Jeffrey Katzenberg and director James Cameron will give a joint keynote at the launch of 3DX, the 3-D film and technology festival taking place in November in Singapore.

Fox and DreamWorks have invested heavily in digital 3-D. All DreamWorks Animation releases going forward will be in 3-D, beginning with Monsters vs. Aliens in 2009.  Fox has two major 3-D releases for 2009: Ice Age 3 and Cameron’s Avatar. It is also expected to be the distributor on the long-planned digital 3-D re-release of the Star Wars saga.

Gianopulos told Variety that footage from Ice Age 3 and Avatar may be shown if it’s ready in time for the event.

‘Yeah, yeah, everything,’ Bamber told SCI FI Wire. ‘I can’t really think of a really loose thread. … Not off the top of my head. I’m sure there are a couple, but I can’t think of one.’

Dark Knight Star Bale ArrestedAccording to the BBC The Dark Knight star Christian Bale was arrested by appointment today over allegations he assaulted his mother and sister in his suite at London’s Dorchester Hotel on Sunday.

The actor, who denies the allegation, has been released on bail until September pending further inquiries.

It is thought that prior information to Bale informing him of the forthcoming arrest was responsible for his sombre mood at the European premiere of the Dark Knight in London last night.

2008 U.S. Presidential election

quoteI prefer Obama to McCain. Now, McCain’s better than average for a Republican. And though his ads are intellectually offensive, he’s just bowing to his campaign masters and would calm down and be more sane once in office and not campaigning. But I have a few concerns with McCain on foreign policy. He’s not a full-fledged Neocon. That’s good. He opposed Reagan on Lebanon. Good. He was critical of Bush’s initial strategy in Iraq. That’s good. But there’s a problem. He thinks the Vietnam war was winnable and that the US shouldn’t have withdrawn. He’s also eager to spread democracy with force. This just isn’t a good set of beliefs for inheriting Iraq.quote
