Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige spoke with SCI FI Wire about the upcoming The First Avenger: Captain America movie adaptation, confirming it will be a World War II period piece.
Feige says the film, scheduled for release in May 6th 2011, will serve to set up the eventual Avengers movie (in which Captain America teams up with fellow Marvel superheroes Iron Man, Hulk and Thor) to be released six weeks later on July 1st.
He also denied recent rumours that Matthew McConaughey was up for the Captain America role, but confirmed that the object glimpsed in Tony Stark’s workshop in recently released Iron Man is part of the character’s shield.
