The film adaptation of the iconic Marvel comic tells the story of a billionaire industrialist and genius inventor who is kidnapped and forced to build a devastating weapon. Instead, using his intelligence and ingenuity, Tony Stark builds a high-tech suit of armor and escapes captivity. When he uncovers a nefarious plot with global implications, he dons his powerful armor and vows to protect the world as Iron Man. The movie opens in cinemas May 2.

'The Golden Compass' theatrical posterIt is looking more and more unlikely that His Dark Materials fans will get to see the two sequels to The Golden Compass on the big screen.

While the big budget film and intended first of a trilogy failed to light up the US box office, it performed rather well in most other markets across the globe. With New Line Cinema having sold off its distribution rights for those territories however (to help finance production), it seems questionable whether the studio made any profit. In fact, the recent subsumption of New Line under the Warner Bros. banner (which will see 450 New Line jobs going out the window) is said to be directly related to the financial failure of The Golden Compass in the United States.

Crew members of the film have now come out and said that many of the movie sets have since been destroyed - as opposed to kept in storage for the production on the sequels The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass.

‘The Incredible Hulk’ theatrical posterThe Incredible Hulk star Edward Norton and director Louis Leterrier have revealed the details behind their dispute with Marvel Studios over the film’s final cut.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Marvel weren’t entirely satisfied with the initial 135-minute cut of the movie, wanting a leaner and more action-packed film under 120 minutes. Leterrier and Norton on the other hand envisioned a 135-minute more contemplative and richer epic. Marvel won the battle, and while Norton isn’t exactly happy he wants the film to be a hit, and concedes that Marvel’s cut is more commercial than his.

The actor said in an official statement: “Every good movie gets forged through collaboration, and different ideas among people who are all committed and respect the validity of each other’s opinions is the heart of filmmaking. Regrettably, our healthy process, which is and should be a private matter, was misrepresented publicly as a ‘dispute,’ seized on by people looking for a good story, and has been distorted to such a degree that it risks distracting from the film itself, which Marvel, Universal and I refuse to let happen.”

'The Dark Knight' teaser posterReports emanating from over at CHUD and Dark Horizons indicate that The Dark Knight may have a running time of nearly three hours.

Batman Begins clocked in at a 140 minutes and the studio apparently would very much like to have the sequel play for a just slightly longer 150 minutes. However, it seems unlikely that the film will be cut down from its current three hours much further, with the figure of 165 minutes being mooted as the final running time.

The anticipated summer release opens July 18.

Mulder’s ‘I Want To Believe’ poster from the popular 90s TV showThe official title of the upcoming new X-Files movie has been announced as The X-Files: I Want To Believe by the Associated Press.

The title for the sequel to the successful 1990s mystery TV series (which already spawned one theatrical outing in 1998) was signed off by 20th Century Fox earlier this week, after the studio had assessed that it was marketable. “It’s a story that involves the difficulties in mediating faith and science. `I Want to Believe.’ It really does suggest Mulder’s struggle with his faith,” says series creator and director of the upcoming July 25 release Chris Carter.

Fans of the TV show will remember the famous UFO poster (pictured above) sporting that very same ‘I Want To Believe’ line featuring prominently on protagonist Fox Mulder’s office wall.

The Impending Oil Crisis

quote I am a little leary of the situation. The truth will come out when, and if the US economy, and the dollar begins to strengthen. If prices remain high, you’ll know someone is lying. Either OPEC doesn’t have the supply they claim they have, or Analysts are incorrect when they say demand has decreased. Personally, I don’t buy the claim that demand has decreased. Population is ever increasing, so, the the demand should always be increasing. quote
