‘The X-Files 2′ teaser posterUpdate Apr 2, 15:13 GMT: A high-resolution version of the poster is now available in our movie gallery.

A first teaser poster for the upcoming The X-Files feature film has appeared online.

The poster shows Mulder and Scully seen from above, with their long shadows crossing to form a big ‘X’. Unfortunately, no high-resolution version of the image is available yet, but ComingSoon.net has a decent photo of it and it’s featured as the background image on the film’s official website (which launched this weekend and promises the imminent arrival of a trailer).

The untitled film, directed by series creator Chris Carter, debuts in cinemas July 25.

Children of MenBattlestar Galactica executive producer David Eick told SCI FI Wire that he’s currently working on a pilot script for a potential TV series based on P.D. James’ novel Children of Men, which deals with a society in which the human race can no longer reproduce.

Alfonso Cuaron (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) adapted the same novel for the big screen (starring Clive Owen and Julianne Moore) in 2006 to great critical acclaim. But while Cuaron’s version only used the frame of the book’s story as a starting point, the new TV show is expected to follow James’ text very closely.

Eick comments that the show will question how society defines responsibility and freedom when in a time when it is highly doubtful that the human species will survive for much longer. “So it’s a very compelling, I think, human question that science fiction has always explored extremely provocatively. It’s not really a war show like the movie was. It’s more an exploration of that issue.”

With more creatures than the Star Wars cantina, Hellboy and his cohorts set about trying to stop an Elf prince from destroying the human race. Hey, it’s all in a day’s work for Big Red.

2008 U.S. Presidential election

quoteI prefer Obama to McCain. Now, McCain’s better than average for a Republican. And though his ads are intellectually offensive, he’s just bowing to his campaign masters and would calm down and be more sane once in office and not campaigning. But I have a few concerns with McCain on foreign policy. He’s not a full-fledged Neocon. That’s good. He opposed Reagan on Lebanon. Good. He was critical of Bush’s initial strategy in Iraq. That’s good. But there’s a problem. He thinks the Vietnam war was winnable and that the US shouldn’t have withdrawn. He’s also eager to spread democracy with force. This just isn’t a good set of beliefs for inheriting Iraq.quote
