In an interview with SCI FI Wire , Shazam! Director Peter Segal has explained that although the writer’s strike has delayed his adaptation of the classic comic book, the project is still very much in development.
‘I think it’ll still happen,‘ said Segal ‘Though timing is going to be a key issue now, because, whereas before, normally we’d be working on a script while we’re in post-production [on Get Smart], so that hopefully when we’re done with post-production, we’re ready to go into preproduction. But now we’re sort of out of sync, so, unfortunately, I’ll have to spend more time with my family.’

The troubled Justice League movie, the status of which Director George Miller now describes as ‘precarious’ could be moving its production from Australia to Canada reports the Sydney Morning Herald.
The project was supposed to start shooting last month at Fox Studios until production was halted, citing uncertainty over new incentives. The problem lies around a dispute about whether the $200m picture is eligible for the Federal Government’s new incentive for film production. The Australian film industry is apparently split over whether the 40% rebate rule for Australian producers should apply to big-budget movies.
Now it seems likely that the studio will push for the movie to move to Canada, even though it has a largely Aussie crew and a cast that includes natives Megan Gale, Teresa Palmer and Hugh Keays-Byrne.

Dimension Films has purchased the film rights to Joe Hill’s graphic novel Locke & Key with the intention of developing a potential franchise writes Variety.
Hill, the son of legendary horror scribe Stephen King, made his first screen sale with his debut novel, Heart-Shaped Box, which Warner Bros. is developing. Locke & Key tells of Keyhouse, an unlikely New England mansion, with fantastic doors that transform all who dare to walk through them…. and home to a hate-filled and relentless creature that will not rest until it forces open the most terrible door of them all.
‘I love what Joe wrote. There are fun elements that horror fans love, and it feels like a franchise where you can feel satisfied with each film, but there is a door left open for the next one,’ said Dimension chief Bob Weinstein.

Variety reports that Warner Bros. plan to release Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins on May 22, 2009, the start of Memorial Day weekend. This puts McG’s fourth entry in the Terminator movie franchise up against the Ben Stiller sequel Night at the Museum II: Escape From the Smithsonian.
The last film in the franchise, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, bowed in 2003 and grossed $150.4 million domestically.
Taking advantage of location tax breaks, T4 begins lensing in New Mexico for two months on May 5th. The storyline is being kept under tight wraps, but plot is part of a planned three-picture arc that begins after Skynet has destroyed much of humanity in a nuclear holocaust. A group of survivors led by John Connor (Christian Bale) struggles to stop the machines. Sam Worthington (Avatar) is also in talks to star.
