WGA strikeThe Writers Guild Association (WGA) and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) have officially reached a tentative agreement that will conclude the strike and could see the Hollywood authors resuming work as early as Monday.

The WGA leadership is discussing the specific terms of the agreement with its membership at Los Angeles and New York-based meetings this weekend, where they will also discuss how they will proceed regarding ratification of this agreement and lifting the restraining order that ends the strike.

The tentative agreement covers the WGA’s most pressing issue of writing made for new media (e.g. projects distributed via the internet) and includes a minum annual rates increase of about 3%. The specifics can be read at ComingSoon.net.

Mickey Rourke on the set of ‘The Wrestler’A first look at Mickey Rourke in character on the set of Darren Aronofsky’s drama The Wrestler is available at WXWWrestling.com.

The new film by the Requiem for a Dream and The Fountain director centers on Randy “The Ram” Robinson (Rourke), a 1980s-era star pro wrestler who has become a burnt-out shell of his former self. After he has a heart attack during a small-time match, a doctor tells him he could die if he fights again. But the prospect of a rematch with his old nemesis the Ayatollah proves too tempting to resist, even if it means risking his life.

Rourke’s in-ring scenes were filmed in front of live crowds at Hasbrock Heights last week. Follow this link to read more about the New Jersey-shoot and view the image.

Indiana JonesThere’s a new featured video up on the official Indiana Jones site dedicated to Indy’s hat and jacket. Steven Spielberg, Harrison Ford and others talk about the Indy costuming legacy.

Ford says: “If the hat falls off, we have to have a good reason for it. In other words, there’s got to be a joke involved or there’s got to be some narative process at work here because the hat does not fall off.”

The Impending Oil Crisis

quote I am a little leary of the situation. The truth will come out when, and if the US economy, and the dollar begins to strengthen. If prices remain high, you’ll know someone is lying. Either OPEC doesn’t have the supply they claim they have, or Analysts are incorrect when they say demand has decreased. Personally, I don’t buy the claim that demand has decreased. Population is ever increasing, so, the the demand should always be increasing. quote
