There’s something fascinating about movie lists that seems to capture the attention of anyone who has even a passing interest in cinema — whether it’s an IGN countdown of the top 25 movie heroes of all time, or goresite Bloody Disgusting compiling a roster of the top 25 slasher flick kills, these kind of features are an ubiquitous presence on the internet.

Why HD?
With the increasing size and affordability of big screen televisions, it’s become pretty obvious that standard definition formats just don’t cut the visual mustard on these new AV behemoths invading our living rooms. What looked perfectly acceptable on your old 28” CRT set can look awful when the limitations of SDTV (Standard Definition TV) are amplified by a monster flat panel.

You probably won’t see this news go around on many websites, since news outlets usually don’t care about following up their stories, especially not once they’ve been debunked. See, the news is already passé and the fishing for new headlines must go on.
Thankfully, there are some exceptions. Empire for instance didn’t quite buy those rumours (started by a British tabloid) that crew currently working Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince were told that the adaptation of the final book would be split into two movies. So they spoke with their contacts in the industry and, you guessed it, uncovered that there is absolutely no basis for talk of such a split at this stage.
Because currently, screenwriter Steve Kloves hasn’t even started work on the script for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and as Warner Bros. confirms, no decisions have been made about the seventh installment yet.

According to Aint-it-cool-news, the much delayed Star Wars-themed comedy Fanboys is facing a major reshoot.
The original story is set in early 1999 and follows a group of friends trying to break into Star Wars creator George Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch. Their aim is to steal a copy of Star Wars Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace, since one of their friends is dying of cancer and won’t live to see the film’s cinematic premiere.
Apparently producer Shauna Robertson is now of the opinion that the heavy subject matter plays against the film’s comedic tone. The plan now is to reshot the film sans the entire cancer-subplot.
