‘Wolverine’ location & plot details

wolverinesmall1.jpgThe press reports that an explosive finale is in store for X-Men spinoff movie Wolverine,  which is due to shoot in New Zealand’s South Island this summer.

The $100m feature,  which sees Aussie star Hugh Jackman reprise the role of grizzled mutant Logan, will be partly lensed in the region of Otago,  which is famous for it’s mountain and glacial lakes.  The remainder will be filmed at Fox Studios in Sydney, where pre-production is under way.

The movie will be set in the 1970s,  focusing on the origin story of the Marvel comics character created by Len Wein and artist John Romita, Sr. in 1974.

*** SPOILER WARNING ***

A consent applicayion for temporary filming and the construction of sets at Arcadia Station, near Glenorchy reveals that a barn and farmhouse will be built at a site called Hudson Farm in the movie’s story, with the final scene involving the destruction of the barn using explosives.

‘The premise is that a military sniper shoots a rocket launcher at the barn, narrowly missing Wolverine but exploding the building,’ an assessment of environmental effects by McGillan Consulting Ltd says.

2008 U.S. Presidential election

quoteI prefer Obama to McCain. Now, McCain’s better than average for a Republican. And though his ads are intellectually offensive, he’s just bowing to his campaign masters and would calm down and be more sane once in office and not campaigning. But I have a few concerns with McCain on foreign policy. He’s not a full-fledged Neocon. That’s good. He opposed Reagan on Lebanon. Good. He was critical of Bush’s initial strategy in Iraq. That’s good. But there’s a problem. He thinks the Vietnam war was winnable and that the US shouldn’t have withdrawn. He’s also eager to spread democracy with force. This just isn’t a good set of beliefs for inheriting Iraq.quote
