foxsmall.jpgVariety reports that 20th Century Fox has been shuffling its 2009 release schedule.

Night at the Museum 2: Escape From the Smithsonian will be released on May 22nd with James Cameron’s 3-D Avatar shifting from the Memorial Day frame to Dec. 18, giving the helmer more time for post-production.

Fox Animation and Blue Sky Studios also announced that Fox has decided to produce Ice Age 3 in digital 3-D. Fox had previously announced it will kick off summer 2009 with the release of Hugh Jackman starrer X-Men Origins: Wolverine on May 1st.

Pushing back the release of Avatar from May to December allows both more time to work on the effects and that much more time for additional theaters to install 3-D screens both in the US and overseas. With the extra months, Cameron and Peter Jackson’s Weta Digital will continue working on the groundbreaking technology invented by Cameron’s team and Weta for the film.

‘Hater’ by David MoodyAccording to JoBlo, Pan’s Labyrinth and Hellboy II - The Golden Army director Guillermo del Toro has set up a new film at Universal for himself to direct, entitled Haters.

The film will be based on the book Hater by David Moody (author of the August series), which is described as follows: Society is rocked by a sudden increase in the number of violent assaults on individuals. Christened ‘Haters’ by the media, the attackers strike without warning. Their attacks are brutal, remorseless and extreme. In seconds rational, controlled people become vicious killers. This is a terror which knows no boundaries. You can no longer trust anyone, no matter how well you think you know them. You can no longer trust yourself. By the end of today you could be a killer. By the end of today you could be dead.

2008 U.S. Presidential election

quoteI prefer Obama to McCain. Now, McCain’s better than average for a Republican. And though his ads are intellectually offensive, he’s just bowing to his campaign masters and would calm down and be more sane once in office and not campaigning. But I have a few concerns with McCain on foreign policy. He’s not a full-fledged Neocon. That’s good. He opposed Reagan on Lebanon. Good. He was critical of Bush’s initial strategy in Iraq. That’s good. But there’s a problem. He thinks the Vietnam war was winnable and that the US shouldn’t have withdrawn. He’s also eager to spread democracy with force. This just isn’t a good set of beliefs for inheriting Iraq.quote
