Daniel Craig as James BondDirector Marc Forster spoke with Swiss newspaper Sonntags Zeitung over the weekend and confirmed that principal photography on the new James Bond film begins this Thursday.

Forster revealed that he would have liked to cast Swiss actor Bruno Ganz (acclaimed for his portrayal of Hitler in Downfall) as the film’s villain, but couldn’t as French thesp Mathieu Almaric had already signed on for the role.

Of the film’s tone, Forster said: ‘When Bond began in the Connery days, travel was a luxury not everyone could afford. Today, the world has become smaller. If Bond goes to a beach with palm trees it’s almost banal now. The only interesting trip remains the journey inwards, deep in to the psyche.’

The news follows a casting shake-up that happened earlier in the year after the departure of Karl Urban,  who has since signed to play Leonard McCoy in the new Star Trek movie.  Producers of the X-Men spinoff movie have also reportedly approached Natalie Portman and Gerard Butler to consider parts in the film, while Liev Schreiber and Kodi Smit-McPhee are rumoured to be on board with Hugh Jackman taking the lead with co-star Maggie Q.

The Impending Oil Crisis

quote I am a little leary of the situation. The truth will come out when, and if the US economy, and the dollar begins to strengthen. If prices remain high, you’ll know someone is lying. Either OPEC doesn’t have the supply they claim they have, or Analysts are incorrect when they say demand has decreased. Personally, I don’t buy the claim that demand has decreased. Population is ever increasing, so, the the demand should always be increasing. quote
