Johnny Depp as ‘Sweeney Todd’Seven new film stills from Tim Burton’s Sweeney Todd have surfaced over at EmpireOnline, most of them depicting the titular blood-thirsty barber played by Johnny Depp.

The film is an adaptation of the award winning musical-thriller by Steven Sondheim. It tells the story of a man unjustly sent to prison, who vows revenge not only for that cruel punishment but for the devastating consequences of what happened to his wife and daughter. When he returns to reopen his barber shop, he becomes the Demon Barber of Fleet Street who ‘shaved the heads of gentleman who never thereafter were heard from again.’

Chris HemsworthAccording to IESB.net, Chris Hemsworth (Home and Away) Jennifer Morrison (House) have won roles in Paramount’s upcoming reinvention of Star Trek.

Hemsworth will apparently play George Samuel Kirk Sr., father of Captain James T. Kirk. The Australian soap star is only twenty four years old, three years younger than Kirk Jr. actor Chris Pine - a fact which could lend credence to plot rumours featuring time traveling. (Alternatively, Kirk Sr. may just appear in flashbacks.)

Details on Morrison’s role have not been confirmed, but there’s speculation that she might play Carol Marcus, a civilian biologist who had a youth affair with Kirk.

Tom Cruise as Col. von Stauffenberg in 'Valkyrie'United Artists has released the trailer for Bryan Singer’s (X-Men, Superman Returns) upcoming WWII film Valkyrie on Yahoo! Movies.

The movie stars Tom Cruise as Col. Claus von Stauffenberg, the aristocratic German officer who led the heroic attempt to bring down the Nazi regime and end the war by planting a bomb in Hitler’s bunker. Severely wounded in combat, Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg returns from Africa to join the German Resistance and help create Operation Valkyrie, the complex plan that will allow a shadow government to replace Hitler’s once he is dead.

The film is scheduled for a June 27, 2008 release.

The Impending Oil Crisis

quote I am a little leary of the situation. The truth will come out when, and if the US economy, and the dollar begins to strengthen. If prices remain high, you’ll know someone is lying. Either OPEC doesn’t have the supply they claim they have, or Analysts are incorrect when they say demand has decreased. Personally, I don’t buy the claim that demand has decreased. Population is ever increasing, so, the the demand should always be increasing. quote
