A 45 second clip from Beowulf depicting the titular hero battling sea monsters has appeared online at Yahoo movies.

Beowulf, which will hit cinemas in digital 3D in November is an ambitious performance-captured epic from director Robert Zemeckis, based upon an old English poem which tells the story of a warrior who travels to Denmark to save a Kingdom from the nightly attacks of a hideous monster. The WGA rolled out in force today to start their strike after last-ditch bargaining sessions failed to resolve their dispute yesterday.
The Hollywood Reporter writes that LA’s WGA West captains marched out troops to populate picket lines at 14 studio and network sites starting at 9 a.m.

Directors Colin and Greg Strause have told SCI FI Wire that they are aiming for a R Rating for Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (Its predecessor was rated PG-13).
After screening 10 minutes of new footage in LA at the weekend, Greg Strause said ‘We didn’t want to look like we were holding back.’
The foootage screened included new Predator weapons, mutilations, aliens bursting out of people’s chests and profanity. The directors added that they have returned to the ridge-backed alien of James Cameron’s movie - ‘The sleeker back may have looked good while in space, but the ridged back looks better when they’re down here on Earth,’ Colin Strause said. AVP2: Requiem is being released by 20th Century Fox on Christmas Day.

Hasbro has published an official statement on its website to address fan’s concerns about the direction of Paramount’s upcoming big screen G.I. Joe movie adaptation.
The toy manufacturer writes -
‘Hasbro’s G.I. Joe Team wanted to take this opportunity to clarify some of the facts regarding the G.I. Joe live-action movie that we are developing with Paramount Pictures. First and foremost, we are not changing what the G.I. Joe brand is about. The name G.I. Joe will always be synonymous with bravery and heroism.

The Golden Compass is an upcoming fantasy film based upon Northern Lights (titled The Golden Compass in the US), the first novel in Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy. The movie, from New Line Cinema, is slated for release on December 7th.

Rocky Balboa Star Sylvester Stallone is in talks to direct and star in MGM’s Death Wish remake reports Variety.
The violent original 1974 movie starring Charles Bronson tells the story of a an ordinary man who goes vigilante after his wife and daughter are attacked. The remake will be written and scripted by Michael Ferris and John Brancato, whose credits include Terminator 3 and Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins.

Peter Jackson’s upcoming sci-fi production, District 9 will be released by Sony writes Variety.
The studio has bought the rights to the Neill Blomkamp-helmed feature, which Jackson will produce through his Wingnut Films production banner from a script by Blomkamp and writing partner Terri Tatchell.
While their plan to team on a bigscreen adaptation of the videogame Halo is on hold, Jackson and Blomkamp are going forward this spring on the live-action sci-fier that will mark Blomkamp’s feature directing debut.
