wgasmall.jpgIn meeting attended by 3,000 guild members on Thursday evening, the Writers Guild of America negotiating committee announced a unanimous strike recommendation reports Variety.  Monday seems like a possible starting date for the industrial action.

The decision also is sure to cause ripple effects within the Directors Guild and the Screen Actors Guild as they negotiate their contracts within coming months.

At the time of writing,  the AFP reports that last-minute talks have been taking place today with the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers to try and avert the strike,  which stems from Hollywood screen writers demanding a share of the cash film and television studios bring in from DVDs and online distribution of shows.

The move follows a challenge that Johnson issued directly the fans via the MTV blog,  to decide whether he should play Captain Marvel or his villainous nemesis.  According to the site,  90% who responded would prefer to see the former wrestling star play the latter.

The morally ambiguous character of Black Adam was originally created in 1945 for the premiere issue of Fawcett Comics’ Marvel Family comic book by Otto Binder and C. C. Beck as an evil version of Fawcett’s popular Captain Marvel character.  Adam was later revived by DC Comics in the 1970s Shazam! comic book, becoming Captain Marvel’s most physically powerful foe.

The Impending Oil Crisis

quote I am a little leary of the situation. The truth will come out when, and if the US economy, and the dollar begins to strengthen. If prices remain high, you’ll know someone is lying. Either OPEC doesn’t have the supply they claim they have, or Analysts are incorrect when they say demand has decreased. Personally, I don’t buy the claim that demand has decreased. Population is ever increasing, so, the the demand should always be increasing. quote
