Variety reports that Paramount Pictures has bought the rights to adapt noirish graphic novel The Killer with the intention of developing it as a directing vehicle for David Fincher (Fight Club).
Allesandro Camon will pen the script, about a top assassin suddenly plagued by his conscience and being pursued by a highly competent cop.
The hardboiled story was created by Matz (real name is Alexis Nolent) who works for Ubisoft, one of France’s biggest videogame companies with illustrations by Luc Jacamon. The Killer was originally published in France in 1988 by Casterman and debuted in the U.S. as a 10-issue series published by Archaia Studio Press.

The Latino Review has learned from a trusted source that a teaser trailer for J.J.Abrams’ Star Trek is in the works.
Apparently the appetizer is codenamed Central Headquarters and depicts the USS Enterprise under construction.
The as yet not 100%-confirmed crew of the NCC-1701 is currently looking like: Chris Pine (Kirk), Simon Pegg (Scotty), Zachary Quinto (Spock), Anton Yelchin (Chekov), John Cho (Sulu) and Zoe Saldana (Uhuru). Eric Bana will play Romulan bad guy Nero. Star Trek, the eleventh entry in the long-running film series, based on the franchise created by Gene Roddenberry, is scheduled for release on Christmas Day next year.
With Halo delayed and looking for a studio, Peter Jackson and first-time South African director Neill Blomkamp are going forward this spring on live action sci-fi pic District 9.
Jackson will produce through his WingNut Films production banner. Blomkamp wrote the script with partner Terri Tatchell. The project grew out of a kinship that developed between Jackson and Blomkamp in New Zealand as they prepped a movie adaptation of the aforementioned Microsoft game. Even though that process halted when co-financiers Universal and Fox balked at going forward, Blomkamp never left. Rather, he and Jackson continued to bat around ideas until they agreed on District 9.
Blomkamp is best known for directing commercials and short films, and Microsoft recently engaged him to shoot three commercials for the product launch of Halo 3. District 9 will shoot in South Africa.

I prefer Obama to McCain. Now, McCain’s better than average for a Republican. And though his ads are intellectually offensive, he’s just bowing to his campaign masters and would calm down and be more sane once in office and not campaigning. But I have a few concerns with McCain on foreign policy. He’s not a full-fledged Neocon. That’s good. He opposed Reagan on Lebanon. Good. He was critical of Bush’s initial strategy in Iraq. That’s good. But there’s a problem. He thinks the Vietnam war was winnable and that the US shouldn’t have withdrawn. He’s also eager to spread democracy with force. This just isn’t a good set of beliefs for inheriting Iraq.![]()
