Man, I picked just a hell of a day to come back to the news, because it looks like we’re just getting pummeled with juicy Justice League tidbits today. In this evening’s installment, reports are coming in from a purported reading of an also-purported leaked copy of the script. Keep in mind that whether this is the final script or an earlier draft and how different from the final one this script may be is anyone’s guess, as JLA director George Miller has a tendency to want to be involved in the writing process of most of his projects and this draft is reported to have been written before Miller was on board with the project. There are some pretty significant details about the plot and involved personae in the film, although I don’t think it’s anything that you won’t know once you’ve seen a trailer.
You’ve been warned; proceed at your own risk.

Today the brains behind the sequel to 2004’s Alien vs. Predator have unveiled the first look at this Christmas’ sequel, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem by revealing the new Predator/Alien hybrid creature, which is already being lovingly referred to as the”predalien.” The creature was technically first revealed when it was given birth to at the very end of the long-awaited 2004 film, but this is our first look at this lovely little freak of nature fully-grown. Newcomers Colin and Greg Strause, who are making their directorial debut with the AvP sequel, also expressed their disappointment with the more recent outings of both the Alien and Predator franchises, and are promising a movie similar in tone and quality to Ridley Scott’s original Alien. Check out the article at USA Today for more, including the full picture of the hybrid creature.

Following today’s “confirmed” rumors that Aussie actress Theresa Palmer has been cast as Wonder Woman in the upcoming Justice League comes a follow-up on yesterday’s rumors about the role of Superman having been cast as well. When asked about the rumors that Brit actor Rupert Evans (Hellboy) had been cast as the Man of Steel, sources from Evans’ camp laughed and said that not only had he not been cast, but that he had not even auditioned for Superman or any other roles in the JLA movie.
(Probably a wise choice. He’s 5′10″ and British.)

Earlier in the week we reported on a viral marketing website for The Dark Knight which depicts a carved pumpkin with a wide Joker-like grin in the shape of the Batman logo.
Now it seems that the candle is almost burnt out and the pumpkin face has begun to rot on one side – perhaps a reference to arch villain Two-Face? Take a look for yourself at WhySoSerious.com and make sure you log in at Halloween for the inevitable reveal.
The Dark Knight opens July 18th 2008.

In an interview with ShockTillYouDrop, Pans’ Labyrinth and Hellboy helmer Guillermo del Toro was asked about his H.P. Lovecraft adaptation At the Mountains of Madness.
‘I wish I knew,’ replied the Mexican director. ‘but Universal has acquired it, which is a great thing because it was in limbo, and I have, together with Michael, self-financed the designs and maquettes and everything, but we’ll see. It’s R-rated, it’s expensive and it doesn’t have a happy ending. I think that big-scale horror, big tentpole horror, which you used to have with Alien, The Shining, The Exorcist before everyone thought horror needs to be this or that and pre-conceptualized, I think big tentpole like that should be back at some point in life, so I’m patiently waiting my turn.’
