Babylon A.D. is based upon the novel Babylon Babies by Maurice Georges Dantec. The story is about a young woman (Mélanie Thierry) who has been genetically tampered with, and possesses a virus that could kill the human race. A mercenary (Vin Diesel) is hired to escort the woman and is accompanied by a nun played by Michelle Yeoh.

JoBlo reports that the prequel to the 2002 fantasy adventure flick The Scorpion King, itself a spinoff from the successful Mummy franchise is headed direct-to-DVD.
The Scorpion King: Rise of the Akkadian has been described by Universal spokesperson Glen Ross as ‘most ambitious DVD Originals production ever in terms of the scope and quality of the sets, visual effects, fight sequences and stunt work’.

The film sees Johnny Depp and Tim Burton join forces again in a big-screen adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s award-winning musical thriller Sweeney Todd. Depp stars in the title role as a man unjustly sent to prison who vows revenge, not only for that cruel punishment, but for the devastating consequences of what happened to his wife and daughter.

MTV has confirmed that British thesp Sir Anthony Hopkins is joining the cast of Universal’s remake of The Wolf Man.
‘I’m going to do The Wolf Man with Benicio Del Toro,’ Hopkins said during an interview for his new experimental art film, Slipstream.
Hopkins will play Sir John Talbot, a role filled by the great Claude Rains in the 1941 original. The character is the father of Del Toro’s Lawrence Talbot who is afflicted with the werewolf curse.
