Veteran British thesp Ian McKellen, who is coming to the end of his King Lear world tour, has told Reuters that he is ready to don the wig and nose for a return to Middle Earth in The Hobbit.
‘When Peter announced he had withdrawn from The Hobbit, he sent me an e-mail saying ‘Because I am not going to do it, it doesn’t mean you have to do the same,” McKellen said. ‘Of course, you must play Gandalf whether I direct or not.”
‘I am glad to read that it is looking more and more likely.‘ McKellen added. ‘I would be disappointed if they didn’t want to have the original Gandalf. I suppose if I am still functioning and working well, it is very likely I would be asked to do it, and if I were, I would be very pleased to do it.’

The SCI FI channel have launched the official website for their upcoming TV show Tin Man, a reimagining of L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
The site, dubbed Infinite O.Z., is a pretty hefty (dial-up users beware) flash-enabled digital site that uses ZoomQuilt technology to allow users to ‘dive’ into the O.Z. (Outer Zone). The site includes photos of the cast, and information about the storyline, characters and environments. Users can either sit back and enjoy the presentation, or take a more active role by pausing the presentation to explore the world of Tin Man through the multitude of video, photo and written materials enriching the site.
