More details have emerged about the new Terminator movie trilogy-
Variety reports that Warner Bros will distribute Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, which will start production early next year for a summer 2009 release date.
The new film will carry the size and scale of Terminator 3, and will have ‘an event-sized budget’. It will likely be less than the $200 million pricetag of Terminator 3, which was saddled with extravagant costs that included above the line payouts, rights payments and heavy fees incurred through a complex financial structure.

Videogame art director Jerry O’Flaherty (Gears of War, Unreal Tournament 3) is set to direct the CG-animated Thundercats movie, based on the popular ’80s cartoon series, comicbook and toy line reports Variety.
‘It feels like a natural thing for me to step into,’ said O’Flaherty. ‘Games have come so far now. The last four years of my life have been about bringing the energy of filmmaking into the videogame experience.’
O’Flaherty will now work with scribe Paul Sopocy on the script. Warner-based Paula Weinstein will produce through her Spring Creek Prods. banner, along with Dick Robertson and Lew Korman. The origin story expands on the major heroes and villains from the animated series, with the plot focusing on Lion-O coming of age as the leader of the Thundercats.

According to Variety, Eric Bana (Hulk, Troy) has signed on to play villain Nero in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek movie for Paramount Pictures.
Meanwhile, the Hollywood Reporter claims that the relatively unknown Chris Pine (Smokin’ Aces, Just My Luck) is in the frame to take the helm of the USS Enterprise as Captain James Tiberius Kirk.
Anton Yelchin, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana and Leonard Nimoy have already boarded the project. Casting is under way in New York and London, and Abrams had been expected to pursue bigger-name actors for the roles of the villain and the Federation captain, the latter of which remains unfilled. Abrams is producing the film through his Paramount-based Bad Robot shingle alongside Stratton Leopold. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci wrote the screenplay and will exec produce along with Bryan Burk and Damon Lindelof. Star Trek will bow on Christmas Day 2008.
