x-files.jpgX-Files 2,  the movie sequel that’s been stuck on the back burner for what seems like an eternity could finally be on the boil.  In an interview with Movieweb,  David Duchovny has revealed that the project could even start lensing before the year is out.

‘the script is written and as far as I know we’re all trying to shoot in December at some point’  said the 47-year-old star. ‘We would all love it if we could keep it a secret and just give everybody a fresh experience of not knowing what the movie’s about. I know if I was a fan of the show I would kind of be excited to be surprised.’

All very exciting David,  but haven’t we heard this before?

darkisrisingpostersmall.jpgThe Seeker: The Dark is Rising star Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who, Heroes) has told SCI FI Wire that the plot of the upcoming film deviates significantly from the original source material.

‘I think there are many, many departures from the book to the film,’ said Eccleston, who plays the villainous rider. ‘The obvious one is that now the child is an American. The novel has been hugely Americanized in the film. The Rider is reasonably close, and he is the nemesis. He is the dyed-in-the-wool bad guy. There is nothing redeeming about him whatsoever.’

mcgowansmall.jpgThe NY Daily News claims that thirty-four year old Grindhouse star Rose McGowan lost the chance to snare a role in Speed Racer because studio bosses felt fans would not recognize her.

The decision follows alleged ‘cosmetic surgery’ that has altered her looks to such an extent that ‘The studio felt that she was hard to recognize and worried that by the time the movie hit theatres, fans might not know who she was’.

McGowan claims that the surgery was performed early in 2007 following a car accident.  Reportedly, when riding as a passenger, her car was struck by another vehicle and the force of the impact drove her eyeglasses into her face.

thehobbit_lead.jpgHome Media Magazine reports that New Line has been hit with a $125,000 fine for failing to save required documents and e-mails related to its legal dispute with Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson.   The dispute centres around the distribution of proceeds from DVD and foreign box office sales.

The judge in the case requested the documentation last year but the studio failed to comply,  resulting in the penalty,  issued on September 18th.  The ongoing dispute has held up production of the much anticipated Hobbit project, although relations between New Line boss Robert Shaye and Jackson seem to have thawed of late.

fantasticvoyagesmall.jpgEmpireonline has published an interesting interview with Roland Emmerich,  focusing on the upcoming Fantastic Voyage remake.

‘I was attached to this project 15 years ago with Dean Devlin and then we gave it back because we wanted to do some other original projects we had developed,’ Emmerich said.  ‘Then James Cameron came in and worked on the project.  Two years ago Jim called me up and said ‘Roland I want you to look at the script for Fantastic Voyage – it’s not there yet’. And he sent it over and I hated the script.’

knightridersmall1.jpgNBC is recruiting Doug Liman to produce a new Knight Rider TV show,  a ‘Transformers-inspired reworking of the 1980s hit action-drama series about a man and his indestructible supercar.’

Peacock is readying a two-hour backdoor pilot for the project, with tentative plans to air it as a telepic later this season.  Liman is open to the idea of directing, assuming his feature sked allows.  If the telepic clicks, a new-model Knight Rider could be on the air as early as next fall.   Dave Andron (Raines) is writing the pilot script and will serve as supervising producer alongside exec producers Liman and Dave Bartis (The O.C., Heist) for Universal Media Studios and Dutch Oven Prods.

The Impending Oil Crisis

quote I am a little leary of the situation. The truth will come out when, and if the US economy, and the dollar begins to strengthen. If prices remain high, you’ll know someone is lying. Either OPEC doesn’t have the supply they claim they have, or Analysts are incorrect when they say demand has decreased. Personally, I don’t buy the claim that demand has decreased. Population is ever increasing, so, the the demand should always be increasing. quote
