In an interview with TV Guide, Star Wars creator George Lucas talked about Lucasfilm’s upcoming two Star Wars TV shows.
While he didn’t really divulge anything we didn’t already know (particularly about The Clone Wars, the animated show set to debut in 2008), he did say this about the live-action series (which goes into production in 2009):
‘It’s the Star Wars universe, but it’s characters from the saga who were [previously] minor, and it follows their stories. It’s set between [movie episodes] III and IV, when the Empire has taken over. It’s like Episode IV in that the Emperor and Darth Vader are heard about — people talk about them — but you never see them because it doesn’t take place where they actually are. There are stormtroopers and all that, but there are no Jedis. It’s different, but I think it’s very exciting because I get to explore a part of that universe that I haven’t been able to explore.’

According to Variety, Dreamworks Animation has pulled forward the release of their 3-D CG film Monsters vs. Aliens by two full months.
The studio made the decision in order to avoid a clash on the 2009 Memorial Day weekend with James Cameron’s sci-fi epic Avatar. The animated film will now hit cinemas March 27, 2009 instead of May 22.
Both pictures are scheduled to be released exclusively in 3-D. The limited amount of movie houses equipped with 3-D technology would have made it difficult for both films to go into circulation simultaneously. In fact, with both movies considered ‘big’ releases, it will be hard enough to justly accomodate just one of them.

Robert Jordan, best-selling author of the Wheel of Time fantasy book series, died September 16 aged 58, succumbing to the rare blood disease amyloidosis which he had been diagnosed with in early 2006.
Jordan’s Wheel of Time series began in 1990 with The Eye of the World. Consisting of 11 volumes (plus one prequel novel), the series was supposed to conclude with the twelfth and final book A Memory of Light, which remained incomplete at the time of Jordan’s death.
Jordan’s work, also including seven Conan the Barbarian novels, sold millions of copies worldwide.
