According to ShockTillYouDrop, Sony’s Screen Gems is looking for a writer to work on a remake of the 1985 vampire classic Fright Night.
The original, which was a surprise hit at the box office, told the story of horror film fan Charley Brewster (William Ragsdale) who believed that a vampire (Chris Sarandon) had moved into the house next door. Teaming up with veteran horror actor Peter Vincent (Roddy McDowall) the duo resolved to destroy the creature.
For the remake, producer Scott Strauss, who was attached to the project at an earlier stage said that he wanted to take the story in a different direction - one involving an amusement park.

John Hillcoat (The Proposition) will direct an adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s Pulitzer Prize-winning The Road says the Hollywood Reporter.
The film, based on McCarthy’s 2006 best-seller, centers on a father who walks alone with his son through a ravaged postwar American landscape in search of civilization. Hillcoat will direct from a script adapted by Joe Penhall with production scheduled to begin in January.

TV Guide has been speaking to George Lucas about some of his current and future projects, including Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
When asked if he was disappointed that Sean Connery didn’t come out of retirement to play Indy’s father, Lucas seemed upbeat, saying ‘No, in the end, it turned out better. In the beginning, he was just in a little bit of it, and I think with the strength of Sean Connery, people would’ve wanted him to go all the way through the whole thing, and the story really didn’t work that way. And so I think there would’ve been some disappointment that [his character] dropped out partway through the movie. By having somebody else fill that role, you lose him without any regret, so to speak, even though we got a great actor to play the part. And I mean, he’s not his father, so it’s much easier….’.
