Author Philip Pullman, who’s The Golden Compass has been adapted into a major motion picture that debuts this December, revealed in an interview with Cittagazze that he has completed a new short story set in the His Dark Materials world, due out next spring.
Titled Once Upon a Time in the North, the book centers on Lee Scoresby and his trusted ice bear friend Iorek Byrnison: ‘When we see them for the first time with Lyra, Lee is not that old: he’s fifty, sixty, something like that, so they’ve [he and Iorek] known each other for a long time. But I wanted to write a story when they first met as they were young, and I’ve just written it.’
Like his previous short story Lyra’s Oxford, the new book will also feature a few ”extra bits”. Pullman indicated that some sort of a “game board” could be included.

According to a report on Cinema Blend, Heath Ledger will return as The Joker in the third Batman film and Catwoman will also be part of the line-up.
With the introduction of Harvey Dent - played by Aaron Eckhart - in next year’s The Dark Knight (the second installment in director Chris Nolan’s trilogy of Batman films), it seems likely that his alter ego Two-Face will be the third film’s main villain. According to this new report, the Joker will survive film 2 to make an appearance in 3, while a hint of Catwoman will be dropped in 2 for the character to take part in the action of 3.
Despite the fact that The Dark Knight is still months away, it has been established that screenwriter Jonathan Nolan has already begun preliminary work on the third script.
