Following on from our earlier report about a possible thawing in relations between New Line Cinema and Peter Jackson, a new juicy tidbit has surfaced regarding The Hobbit movie adaptation.
A source at IESB is now claiming that the project may well go ahead with Sam Raimi (Spider-Man trilogy) holding the directorial reigns and Jackson acting as producer.
This would mean that Raimi may well pass on the Clash of the Titans remake to venture to Middle Earth. Exciting no?

IESB reports that The Mummy helmer Stephen Sommers has been asked by Paramount to direct the movie adaptation of G.I. Joe.
The site also suggests that rather than sticking with either the Skip Woods origin story or Elliot/Lovett’s more straight out adaptation they will be focuisng on a mash-up of the two.
The original G.I. Joe comic strip was created by David Breger for United States military magazines during World War II and in 1964 became a series of military-themed 12″ articulated action figures produced by the Hasbro toy company. Mark Wahlberg has been rumoured to take the lead role in the movie version.
