raystevensonsmall.jpgAccording to Superhero Hype! the working title for Lionsgate and Marvel Studios’ new Punisher film is The Punisher: Welcome Back Frank.

The new movie see Frank Castle/The Punisher, played by Ray Stevenson (Rome) knocking heads with a mobster in New York.  Filming is set to commence  in Montreal with Levi Alexander (Hooligans) in the director’s chair. The story was written by Nick Santora, Kurt Sutter, Matt Holloway and Art Marcum.

In the original Marvel comic books the Punisher is a vigilante who considers killing, kidnapping, extortion, coercion, threats of violence and torture as acceptable crime-fighting tactics. Driven by the deaths of his wife and children, who were killed by the mob when they witnessed a Mafia gangland execution in New York City’s Central Park, Frank Castle wages a one-man war on the mob and all criminals in general by using all manner of weaponry. A war veteran, Castle is a master of martial arts, stealth tactics, hand-to-hand combat, spatial planning and a wide variety of weapons.

voltronsmall.jpgRather inevitably,  following the global success of Transformers,   it seems that more giant toy robots are looming on the Hollywood horizon.

According to Variety, 20th Century Fox is close to a deal with the Mark Gordon Co. to adapt Voltron: Defender of the Universe into a live-action film. Gordon has been developing the pic, based on the popular 1980s Japanese animated TV series,  comicbooks and toy line, with Justin Marks penning the script.

Marks’ take is described as a post-apocalyptic tale set in New York City and Mexico.  Five ragtag survivors of an alien attack band together and end up piloting the five lion-shaped robots that combine and form the massive sword-wielding Voltron that helps battle Earth’s invaders.   Marks is also adapting He-Man and the Masters of the Universe for Joel Silver at Warner Bros,  the Green Arrow movie Supermax and Street Fighter.

The Impending Oil Crisis

quote I am a little leary of the situation. The truth will come out when, and if the US economy, and the dollar begins to strengthen. If prices remain high, you’ll know someone is lying. Either OPEC doesn’t have the supply they claim they have, or Analysts are incorrect when they say demand has decreased. Personally, I don’t buy the claim that demand has decreased. Population is ever increasing, so, the the demand should always be increasing. quote
