20th Century Fox have launched the official website for upcoming sci-fi adventure movie Jumper starring Hayden Christensen (Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith) and Samuel L Jackson (Pulp Fiction).

The movie, adapted from a novel by Steven Gould tells the story of a young man who discovers that he can escape from his abusive father by teleporting. After embarking on a quest find his missing mother he draws the attention of the NSA and Samuel L Jackson’s character. Jumper began shooting at the end of August in several locations including Toronto, Rome and Tokyo. If a success, the movie will become the first of a trilogy.

Warner Home Video have announced that the stylized sword and sandals epic 300 has become the quickest and biggest selling HD DVD and Blu Ray disk yet with more than 250,000 copies sold since the end of July.
‘300 is an amazing film, and the high definition sales we are seeing underscores the positive business benefits of supporting both HD DVD and Blu-ray‘ said Ron Sanders, President of Warner Home Video. ‘This phenomenal response to 300 is the latest proof that our approach makes the most sense in today’s market and has enabled Warner Home Video to continue to lead the market in high definition sales.’
The HD DVD version of 300 incorporates exclusive interactive features including the facility to connect to the internet to create and share montages from viewer’s favourite scenes. Users can also rate scenes within the Warner connected community as well as purchase and collect downloads.

In a licensing agreement with Paramount Licensing Inc., McFarlane Toys has announced plans to develop and produce action figures inspired by the upcoming motion picture, Beowulf. Based on the legendary 18th century epic poem, Beowulf follows the triumphs and trials of the legendary warrior as he battles mythical beasts, including the monstrous Grendel.
The four-figure lineup which will be launched in November includes: Young Beowulf, Grendel, Grendel’s Mother (in aquatic form) and the Dragon. Click here to see the images in our gallery.

No prizes for guessing the biggest games news since last weeks’ Console Yourself.
The postponement of Grand Theft Auto IV from Christmas this year to Q2 of next has both fans and the industry a-buzz. Sony-centrics were quick to claim that the 360 DVD format was too small and compression issues stalled production. Microsoft and 360 supporters speculated that all too familiar problems that third party companies have reported when developing for the PS3 hardware were the problem.
I have another theory.

Oscar-winning actor Ben Kingsley (Ghandi, Sexy Beast) is in talks for a major role in British sci-fi TV show Doctor Who reports the Sun.
The thesp, who was knighted in 2001, will play Davros, the megalomaniacal scientist from the planet Skaro who was responsible for the genesis of the Daleks.
