It was announced yesterday that 20th Century Fox had pulled out of its participation at this year’s Comic-Con International. The official reason given by Fox’s representatives was that the studio hadn’t been able to finish their clips and presentations in time.
But CHUD.com has now heard from their sources at Fox that the real reason for the no-show is the strained relation between CCI and the studio, that goes back to last year’s screening of the Borat nude sequence. Apparently, CCI told Fox that there was to be absolutely no R rated materials during their slots this year - and since most of Fox’s line-up was exactly that, the studio chose to withdraw.
In the meantime however, an all-surprised CCI director of publicity David Glanzer emailed CHUD, claiming they’ve ‘had a great relationship with Fox since they were promoting the first Star Wars. I’m surprised to hear that our relations are strained.’ As far as Glanzer’s concerned, Fox is still showing up for their slot next week.

The Sun has published the first glimpse of the monster that faces off against the Doctor and Kylie Minogue’s character in the Doctor Who Christmas special.
The spiky-faced alien called Porg resembles a red puffer fish and can be seen here.
As reported earlier, the episode will also feature British sitcom actors Geoffrey Palmer and Clive Swift. Palmer has been cast as the Captain of the Titanic in Voyage of the Damned, an episode set up by the hull of the doomed ship crashing into the T.A.R.D.I.S. at the end of the last series.

Knocked Up star Seth Rogen is close to finalizing a deal to write, executive produce and likely star in, Columbia’s bigscreen adaptation of Green Hornet reports Variety.
Rogen would play Brit Reid, millionaire publisher-turned-masked crime fighter — a role George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg and Jake Gyllenhaal flirted with in various stages of the project’s long gestation. The Green Hornet started as a radio serial before being turned into a comicbook, film and TV skein by the 1960s. The TV show was notable for the presence of the late Bruce Lee as sidekick Kato, a kung fu expert with a killer car.

Twentieth Century Fox have recruited Gavin Hood to direct Hugh Jackman in Wolverine reports Variety.
The movie, which is a spin-off from the X-Men franchise, was scripted by David Benioff. Hood is the South African director whose 2005 film Tsotsi won the foreign film Oscar. He was among several hot young directors vying for Wolverine and sources said Fox brass was swayed after viewing his latest film, Rendition, the politically charged New Line drama starring Reese Witherspoon, Jake Gyllenhaal, Meryl Streep and Peter Sarsgaard. It opens Oct. 19 and premieres at Toronto.
