consoleyourselfws211.pngBit opinion heavy this week as E3 was a huge let down but nothing else happens while it’s on….

When is a price cut not a price a cut?  When it’s a Sony stock clearance sale.  Sony confirmed yesterday that when current stocks of the $499 60gb Playstation 3 are deplete it will be discontinued and leave only the $599 80gb model on the market. So if you want a Blu-Ray player that also plays videogames for $499 then you’d better be quick.  Personally, there’s something about this whole PS3 price cut that leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

The Joker on the set of ‘The Dark Knight’Fan videos from the Chicago sets of The Dark Knight have been popping up on Youtube over the last couple of days (check the X-Boards for those), but the most revealing clips have now hit the net courtesy of Fox News.

The news channel has three clips of set filming on their website, which each show a scene involving the Batmobile chasing a truck. More exciting though is the good quality footage of Heath Ledger (or his stunt double) in full Joker make-up and costume, who can be spotted on a skateboard (!) in the second video.

Meanwhile, a spoiler-free script review of the Batman Begins sequel is up at Batman-on-Film.

Sylvester Stallone as John RamboComingSoon.net has received the first two official film stills from Lionsgate’s John Rambo, written and directed by Sylvester Stallone, who also stars in the title role. Click here to view the shots in our movie gallery.

The latest Rambo centers on a group of Christian aid workers in Thailand who recruit Rambo to guide them up the Salween River to deliver medical supplies to the Karen tribe of neighboring Burma (aka Myanmar). When the missionaries fail to return, Rambo is persuaded to take a group of mercenaries back into the war-torn border region to find them. What follows is a descent into hell on earth.

The film will hit theaters sometime in 2008.

Katee Sackhoff in ‘Bionic Woman’Katie Sackhoff has signed a last-minute deal to stay on board the upcoming re-imagined Bionic Woman TV series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Battlestar Galactica star features heavily in the pilot episode for the new show, in which she plays bad bionic Sarah, nemesis to Jamie Sommers (Michelle Ryan). Sackhoff was touted in the NBC promos as a recurring, but didn’t have a deal to stay beyond a couple of episodes.

Long far apart on terms, she and Universal Media finally agreed a deal on Tuesday.

With more creatures than the Star Wars cantina, Hellboy and his cohorts set about trying to stop an Elf prince from destroying the human race. Hey, it’s all in a day’s work for Big Red.

2008 U.S. Presidential election

quoteI prefer Obama to McCain. Now, McCain’s better than average for a Republican. And though his ads are intellectually offensive, he’s just bowing to his campaign masters and would calm down and be more sane once in office and not campaigning. But I have a few concerns with McCain on foreign policy. He’s not a full-fledged Neocon. That’s good. He opposed Reagan on Lebanon. Good. He was critical of Bush’s initial strategy in Iraq. That’s good. But there’s a problem. He thinks the Vietnam war was winnable and that the US shouldn’t have withdrawn. He’s also eager to spread democracy with force. This just isn’t a good set of beliefs for inheriting Iraq.quote
