beowulfsmall3.jpgAll Headline News reports that a remastered large format version of Warner Bros’ Beowulf will be released in IMAX 3-D theatres on November 16, the same day the feature premieres in cinemas.

A press release quotes Zemeckis as saying, ‘IMAX 3D has enabled us to tell stories in a whole new way, and we are very excited to offer moviegoers a chance to experience Beowulf in this incredible format. IMAX lends itself to the incredible image detail in Beowulf and in 3D, it will transport the audience directly into the story.’

Beowulf, which stars Angelina Jolie, Anthony Hopkins and Robin Wright Penn was adapted for the screen by Neil Gaiman & Roger Avary.

camerondiazsmall.jpgCameron Diaz has been cast in the dark fantasy The Box  says the Hollywood Reporter.

The upcoming PG-13 feature is based upon a Twilight Zone episode called Button, Button. The episode, which was first aired on March 7, 1986 was based on a short story of the same name written by Richard Matheson (Matheson adapted the tale for the small screen using a psuedonym).

Button, Button told the tale of Norma Lewis, the wife of a down-and-out loser named Arthur.  One day, a smartly-dressed stranger comes to their door and hands them a special box. He says that if they press the button, they will receive a large sum of money - but someone elsewhere in the world will die; someone they don’t even know.

doctorwhosmall.jpgDavid Tennant has been speaking to the Australian Courier Mail this week about the season climax of Doctor Who.

When asked about the rumours that he is not returning for a third series, Tennant said, ‘The thing is if we all say how long we are staying, it takes all the suspense out of it, We are trying to keep it as mysterious as possible about who may not be there at the end of Episode 13. So, [Season 4] has not started shooting yet and no one knows who will be in it … it’s a thriller, you shouldn’t know who is going to survive.’

It is understood that Tennant had a high level meeting with the BBC head of drama this week but the Scottish actor refused to elaborate upon what was discussed. Last of the Timelords will be broadcast this saturday evening on BBC1 in the United Kingdom.

rushhour3.jpgNew Line have released the rather underwhelming poster for Rush Hour 3.

Rush Hour 3 is the third installment in the comedy/action-adventure franchise starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, that began with Rush Hour (1998) and continued with Rush Hour 2 (2001). Oscar winning film director Roman Polanski will co-star in the film as a French police official involved in Lee and Carter’s case. Tzi Ma will reprise his role as Consul Han, Lee’s boss and friend who appeared in the first installment. In a reference to Bruce Lee’s film Game of Death in which he fights Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, in one scene Chris Tucker fights Chinese basketball player Sun Ming Ming, the seventh tallest person in the world.

Rush Hour 3 has a target release date of August 10, 2007.

lifeonmars.jpgResident Evil: Extinction star Jason O’Mara has been cast as the lead in Life on Mars, David E. Kelley’s time-travel drama pilot for ABC says The Hollywood Reporter.

Based on the British BBC show of the same name, Life on Mars centers on a detective (O’Mara) who finds himself transported back to the 1970s after a road traffic accident. Kelley is executive-producing the pilot with Kudos’ Stephen Garrett and Jane Featherstone. O’Mara was previously cast as Philip Marlowe in Marlowe, ABC’s well-received drama pilot about the famous detective.

Although the British version of Life on Mars has now come to an end, a spinoff show called Ashes to Ashes will debut on the BBC later this year, without lead John Simm who is currently onscreen as the Master in season three of the relaunched Doctor Who.

tmntsmall.jpgIt appears that a sequel to the CG animated feature TMNT is looking more likely.

With a modest budget of just $34 million, the movie has managed to take in nearly three times that amount in its theatrical run even before it hits the home market on DVD.

A blog entry at the 5th Turtle reads ‘As of two weeks ago Imagi Entertainment informed Mirage Studios that there was a 50-50 chance of a CGI film sequel. Last week they upped the odds to 70-30 in favor of a sequel, as talks between Imagi and their distribution partners Warner Brothers and the Weinstein Group seem to be heading in a positive direction.’

The Impending Oil Crisis

quote I am a little leary of the situation. The truth will come out when, and if the US economy, and the dollar begins to strengthen. If prices remain high, you’ll know someone is lying. Either OPEC doesn’t have the supply they claim they have, or Analysts are incorrect when they say demand has decreased. Personally, I don’t buy the claim that demand has decreased. Population is ever increasing, so, the the demand should always be increasing. quote
