Six new recurring characters will be introduced in the next season of NBC’s hit sci-fi show Heroes says the Hollywood Reporter.
The new cast members are: Barry Shabaka Henley, Holt McCallany, David Anders, Japanese pop star and actress Eriko Tamura, Lyndsy Fonseca and Dianna Agron.
Anders will play an ancient samurai warrior called Takezo Kensei, Hiro Nakamura’s (Masi Oka) childhood hero. While never seen during Heroes’ first season, Kensei played a key part in the show’s plot. Hiro spent most of the season trying to get ahold of Kensei’s sword, which he hoped would help him in his quest to save the world.

The Dark is Rising is the name of a five-book series published in the 1960s and 1970s. The series is written as high fantasy, and depicts the struggle between the forces of good, called The Light, and the forces of evil, known as The Dark.

As a remake is being made in the US, Korean filmmakers are planning a sequel to The Host (Gwoemul) reports Dark Horizons.
The Host is a 2006 South Korean monster film, which also contains elements of comedy and drama films. The film was directed by Bong Joon-ho, who also co-wrote the screenplay, along with Baek Chul-hyun. Starring in the film as members of an unremarkable family thrust into the middle of extraordinary events were Song Kang-ho, Byeon Hee-bong, Park Hae-il, Bae Doona and Ko Ah-seong.
The Korea Times reports that original director Bong Joon-ho will not direct the sequel and all of the visual FX work will be handled in Korea (WETA amongst other houses worked on the original).

To coincide with the release of Beowulf, IDW Publishing is producing a special four-part comic book adaptation of the film written by Neil Gaiman and Roger Avary and Directed by Robert Zemeckis.
Beowulf, the ancient epic poem, has been studied in schools for decades and adapted and translated into numerous forms over the centuries. On November 16, 2007, it will receive its most spectacular adaptation of all, in the form of a major motion picture from Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros. and Shangri-La Entertainment. In turn, the spectacular new motion picture has inspired a comic book adaptation from IDW Publishing.

Former Buffy and Smallville star James Marsters is set to make an appearance in the second season of Doctor Who spinoff show Torchwood.
According to the website James Marsters Live, the 44-year-old actor will be filming his appearance in Cardiff next month.
Torchwood is a science fiction drama television programme, created by Russell T. Davies and starring John Barrowman and Eve Myles. It deals with the machinations and activities of the Cardiff branch of the fictional Torchwood Institute, who deal with supernatural and alien occurrences. An initial 13-part series was commissioned by the BBC as a spin-off from the long-running science fiction series Doctor Who with which it is closely interlinked. Davies has said in the past that Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a major inspiration for his Doctor Who revival.

Following the images that were released earlier this week, Warner Bros have now released high resolution shots of the Batpod (Batman’s motorcycle) from The Dark knight.

The Batpod is a fully working motorbike with grappling hooks, cannons and machine guns. The front and rear tires are a massive 508 millimeters, and the engines are in the hubs of each wheel. Steering is done by the shoulder as there aren’t handlebars with shields that fit each arm like sleeves and have the ability to rotate around the bike’s frame. The two foot pegs are set 3 1/2 feet apart on either side of the tank, which the rider lies on, belly down. That tank also moves up and down.

James Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli have announced that Marc Forster will direct the as yet untitled 22nd 007 movie.
The Swiss film director and screenwriter is responsible for the award winning Monster’s Ball (2001), Finding Neverland (2004), Stay (2005) and the comedy drama Stranger than Fiction (2006). His latest project, The Kite Runner is currently in post-production.
Forster will start work shortly with screenwriter Paul Haggis on a draft of the screenplay written by Neil Purvis and Robert Wade.

Jim Broadbent has confirmed his Indiana Jones IV role according to Britfilms.
‘I’m doing a good cameo in the next Indiana Jones’ said the Iris and Moulin Rouge star ‘so working with Mr.Spielberg should be an experience. I’m going to Yale – I’m a professor.’
When asked if he would be playing the new ‘Marcus Brody’ character Broadbent replied ‘That would do for me’.

Variety reports that Lionsgate plan to make an all new Speed Racer cartoon to be broadcast around the same time that the Warner Bros live-action movie hits theaters.
‘It seemed like the right time to do a revival,’ said Ken Katsumoto, exec VP of family entertainment at Lionsgate. ‘When this opportunity arose to revive such a classic property, we jumped.’
The TV show and movie aren’t related but Katsumoto said he sees the movie ‘as a giant promotional vehicle for Speed Racer the brand.’

ComingSoon.net has got official confirmation that Michael Apted will direct Disney and Walden Media’s The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
‘I’m thrilled to be asked to make the film’ said The World is Not Enough director ‘It’s something new and a great challenge’.
Mark Johnson will produce alongside Andrew Adamson, who directed the The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and is currently helming The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is scheduled for a May 1, 2009 release.
