In May this year, after knocking back suggestions that Battlestar Galactica would wind up, executive producer David Eick said “I promise you that when Ron [Moore] and I make a decision about Galactica’s future, we’ll let you know.” It’s now been made official that the popular series will finish after the fourth season.
Producers Eick and Moore said in a statement: “this show was always meant to have a beginning, a middle and finally, an end. Over the course of the last year, the story and the characters have been moving strongly toward that end and we’ve decided to listen to those internal voices and conclude the show on our own terms. And while we know our fans will be saddened to know the end is coming, they should brace themselves for a wild ride getting there - we’re going out with a bang.”

A few days ago, we reported that the marketing boffins for Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer had come up with an ingenious plan - to mint US coins with the Surfer’s image. Well, it turns out that the US Mint has scuppered their plans saying that it is illegal to turn a coin into an advertising vehicle, and 20th Century Fox may face a fine. A press release from the Mint says : “The promotion is in no way approved, authorized, endorsed, or sponsored by the United States Mint, nor is it in any way associated or affiliated with the United States Mint.”
Moshe Malamud, chairman of the Franklin Mint who produced the coins, said that “we are very, very protective of the currency of this country. Our goal was to enhance the coin.”

Sin City 2 is likely to be pushed back, according to Frank Miller. While speaking to Rotten Tomatoes Miller revealed other projects are impacting on the start of filming.
“Sin City 2 is still likely to happen, just not right away. The script is written and Robert and I are raring to go, but it looks like I’m going to be doing The Spirit first and Robert’s going to be doing Barbarella first.”
Miller was also gushing about the possibilities of 3D technologies: “I saw U2 3D and I thought that the 3D effects were not just remarkable but historic. It’s just astonishing, what they’ve developed, and I think they’ve ushered in a new era for 3D. I’ve worked on several comics that I think this would translate brilliantly for and the wheels are spinning.”
Miller’s next release, The Spirit, is currently in pre-production.
