Rather predictably, and despite some unkind reviews, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End has broadsided the global box office, raking in an astonishing $126.5 domestically and $205.5 million internationally in 102 markets reports Variety.
With takings bolstered by a limited US release on thursday, the third installment of the swashbuckling trilogy inspired by a Disney theme park attraction is on track to be the biggest four-day Memorial Day weekend opener ever, beating out the last pic in the X-Men series.
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End performed astonishingly well in the U.K. over the bank holiday weekend, taking $25.8 million. The film has yet to open in India and China.
