Following the news that Thomas Jane will not be reprising his role as Frank Castle in The Punisher 2, FreezeDriedMovies reports that the project may have found a director.
‘John Dahl is in major talks to helm the sequel’ reports the site. Dahl, an American film director and screenwriter, is best known for the neo-noir films Kill Me Again, Red Rock West, and The Last Seduction.
In addition to this, AICN claim that Hooligans helmer Lexi Alexander is also in the running for the job. The Punisher is a fictional vigilante and anti-hero in the Marvel Comics Universe, created by writer Gerry Conway and artists John Romita, Sr. and Ross Andru. The original 2004 movie was written and directed by Jonathan Hensleigh.

Heroes executive producer Tim Kring has told SCI FI Wire that the upcoming season finale will introduce new characters that will become central to the story in the second season.
‘There are several new characters coming in the immediate future,’ said Kring ‘The idea of the show from the start was always to basically honor the origin story of the first sort of blush and discovery of these powers. And so, in order to do that, new characters will have to be cycled into the show. And by extension, older characters will cycle out of the show.’

Following our earlier report that a conglomerate of Mexican directors led by Pan’s Labyrinth helmer Guillermo del Toro was trying to sell a multiple movie deal to various Hollywood studios, Variety has revealed that they have struck a deal with Universal’s specialty arm Focus Features.
The new venture will be called ‘cha cha cha’ and the five projects, some in Spanish and some in English, will include directorial efforts from each of the three partners (Alfonso Cuaron, Guillermo del Toro and Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu), as well as movies from writer-directors Carlos Cuaron and Rodrigo Garcia. Creative control of the projects will remain with the filmmakers.
Universal has agreed to fully finance the deal with a combined budget of around $100 million.
