dekkersmall.jpgThomas Dekker, who is set to play John Connor in The Sarah Connor Chronicles, has told SCI FI Wire how he intends to approach a role made famous by Edward Furlong and Nick Stahl in the Terminator movies.

‘Obviously, I don’t want to ignore what’s already there, but where our story is in the pilot is very different from where John’s story was in the films’ said Dekker last week ‘So I tried to infuse the right parts of him, but really try and invent my own character at the same time. It’s quite a difficult balance.’

heroessmall1.jpgNBC has announced that it has ordered six episodes of a new Heroes spinoff series called Heroes: Origins, which will occupy the show’s Monday-night timeslot when it goes off-air reports Variety.

The new series will focus on new characters that haven’t yet been introduced in Heroes, and will feature an interactive element. Viewers will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite character, who will later appear in the regular show.

Apparently the creation of the new show is intended to avoid repeats, which have been earning record low ratings this year on all five networks.

ironmansmall21.jpgRobert Downey Jr. has been speaking to Time Out Abu Dhabi about playing biollionaire industrialist Tony Stark and his armour-clad alter ego in the upcoming Iron Man movie.

‘I went after it. I hunted it down.’ said Downey, ‘I am a fan of the comic book. It’s mythology. Stan Lee created the character on a dare to see if he could make a wealthy, establishment, weapons manufacturing, hard drinking, womanising prick into someone who is likeable and a hero. And I definitely have had to overcome certain perceptions. But I know underneath it, my heart is in the right place. And that’s kind of what the movie is about.’

terminatorsmall1.jpgArnold Schwarzenegger will appear in Terminator IV, albeit in digital form, reports Moviehole. The actor-turned-politician, and star of the first three movies in the violent sci-fi action franchise has granted studio Halycon permission to use his likeness in the upcoming movie.

‘We’ll be using computer altered stock images of Arnold.’ explained Halcyon’s Derek Anderson, ‘That way we can span his entire career, from the frightening ’80s era Terminator to the ice cool T2 version.’

transformersmall2.jpgTom DeSanto, producer on the upcoming Transformers movie has told Rotten Tomatoes that a screening of the final cut of Michael Bay’s giant robot picture tested incredibly high.

‘[It tested] higher than any other of Michael [Bay]’s movies’ said DeSanto, ‘It’s good, everybody’s excited. It’s a great time right now because in a summer of sequels, we’re going to be bringing something new to the table.’

henryjonessmall.jpgFollowing recent news about George Lucas confirming that Sean Connery’s role as Indy’s dad is included in the Indiana Jones 4 script,  the veteran star has been speaking to the Scotsman about his possible involvement in the project.

When asked flatly if he would be involved in the movie, Connery said ‘I’m still talking with them. I’ve got their script and they’re still working on it.’ adding  ‘It’s all secrecy. You know they’re paranoid about it’.

The Academy Award-winning Scottish actor and producer unofficially retired from acting in 2004, but rumours suggest that his Indy IV scenes could be shot near his home in the Bahamas to make it easier for him to participate in the project.

    2008 U.S. Presidential election

quoteI prefer Obama to McCain. Now, McCain’s better than average for a Republican. And though his ads are intellectually offensive, he’s just bowing to his campaign masters and would calm down and be more sane once in office and not campaigning. But I have a few concerns with McCain on foreign policy. He’s not a full-fledged Neocon. That’s good. He opposed Reagan on Lebanon. Good. He was critical of Bush’s initial strategy in Iraq. That’s good. But there’s a problem. He thinks the Vietnam war was winnable and that the US shouldn’t have withdrawn. He’s also eager to spread democracy with force. This just isn’t a good set of beliefs for inheriting Iraq.quote
