grindhousesmall2.jpgContact Music reports that a UK theatrical release for  the  Tarantino/Rodruigez faux exploitation flick Grindhouse could be in doubt after poor performance in its domestic market. With audiences seemingly perplexed by the concept and the extended running time leading to fewer potential screenings, the feature has failed to capture the public imagination or their box office dollars.

Now that the original cinematic release date of June 1st has been withdrawn by producers Harvey and Bob Weinstein, the site reports that the film could now go straight to DVD. A spokesman for the film’s British distributors, Momentum Pictures, says, ‘We are reviewing the release date and the release plans in the UK. It will definitely be released here, but we don’t know in what form.’

2008 U.S. Presidential election

quoteI prefer Obama to McCain. Now, McCain’s better than average for a Republican. And though his ads are intellectually offensive, he’s just bowing to his campaign masters and would calm down and be more sane once in office and not campaigning. But I have a few concerns with McCain on foreign policy. He’s not a full-fledged Neocon. That’s good. He opposed Reagan on Lebanon. Good. He was critical of Bush’s initial strategy in Iraq. That’s good. But there’s a problem. He thinks the Vietnam war was winnable and that the US shouldn’t have withdrawn. He’s also eager to spread democracy with force. This just isn’t a good set of beliefs for inheriting Iraq.quote
