Sam Raimi’s anticipated Spider-Man 3 opens in cinemas next week, and the X-Realms has interviews with the main cast of the film. We had Thomas Haden Church (Sandman/Flint Marko) and Bryce Dallas Howard (Gwen Stacy) last week, and we’ll follow those up with James Franco today.
The American actor has been part of the Spider-Man film franchise since its first installment, playing the best friend of Spidey’s alter ego Peter Parker, Harry Osborn. Franco has won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of James Dean in the 2001 TV film James Dean and had a starring role in the three Hollywood films Tristan & Isolde, Annapolis and Flyboys last year.

Dreamworks Pictures has announced it will release their animated tale Monsters vs. Aliens on the Memorial Day weekend in May 2009. This will put it directly head-to-head with James Cameron’s Avatar, which confirmed its May 22, 2009 opening a while ago.
What makes this interesting is that both pictures - expected to be big releases - are being released exclusively in 3-D. And as it looks there will not be enough screens fitted for 3-D screenings to accomodate both pictures by then, let alone one. The US currently has 700 screens capable of housing 3-D screenings, and that figure is expected to rise up to 5′000 by May 2009. However, producer Jeffrey Katzenberg claims he needs 6′000 screens for Monsters vs. Aliens alone.

Collider.com spoke to producer Avi Arad at the Spider-Man 3 press junket on Friday and asked him about the new Hulk in Louis Leterrier’s upcoming The Incredible Hulk, which stars Edward Norton as the comic book hero.
Arad said: ‘It’s a new Hulk, new direction, new size, new color, new attitude. Anything that was done before is not in this movie. It’s a very different kind of Hulk. It’s more of a love story; it’s more of a heroic Hulk. It’s a kind of Hulk we loved in the show, so it’s kind of more influenced by the show than anything else. It’s very human, very touching, and huge action.’ Questioned whether or not the new colour is grey (as rumours have it), Arad hesitated, then said: ‘We’ll see. I don’t know.’

A new tv spot for Spider-Man 3 is now available at SuperHeroHype.com.
The thirty second ‘theme’ clip is dedicated to Venom. It features lots of new footage of Spider-Man succumbing to the black goo and Eddie Brock as Venom fighting the webslinging hero. While very similar to a recently released international version, the website is the first place to have the spot available in english. Click here to access the video.
Spider-Man 3 opens in cinemas May 4. We’ll have our review of the film up on X-Realms by the end of this week.

Warner Bros. Pictures has premiered the new international trailer for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (in cinemas July 13) at AOL UK.
The clip runs for just over two minutes and offers the best glimpse at the anticipated film yet! Perfectly capturing the somber mood of the book the trailer is filled to the brim with never-before-seen footage, including Harry seemingly being haunted by Voldemort wherever he goes, the DA practicing new spells, the students riding thestrals, Umbridge making everybody’s life miserable, the Weasley twins’ big exit and the big fight at the Ministry. Don’t miss the trailer at this link.

Walt Disney Pictures and Walden Media have updated the official blog for The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian with an entry by Howard Berger. In it, the film’s make-up effects and creature designer gives a look into the creatures of the movie.
Here’s an excerpt: ‘I think in every film there is one character you fall in love with. The first movie had Mr. Tumnus, played by the great James McAvoy. This time it is Peter Dinklage who plays Trumpkin the Dwarf. The character is so wonderfully written, and once you see Peter as Trumpkin, he becomes alive and real. We gave Trumpkin in his look, but Peter gave him his heart, and the collaboration brings to life a new and interesting addition to this rich world.’ Read the entire blog entry here.

Sam Raimi confirmed at a Los Angeles press junket that Sony will be doing a fourth, fifth and sixth Spider-Man film, reports ComingSoon.net.
Promising to have the precise quotes online soon, the website states that Raimi hasn’t had time to consider a possible involvement yet and that he does not want to presume that Sony would want him back in the directing chair. The director of the first three Spider-Man films, who’s also in consideration for doing the film adaptation(s) of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit, said there has to be a good story to tell and that it’d be very hard to say goodbye to Spider-Man.
