danascullysmall.jpgFollowing reports that X-Files creator Chris Carter is in talks with 20th Century Fox about a second X-Files movie, having settled with them in a lawsuit over syndication profits, Empire have spoken to Gillian Anderson aka Agent Dana Scully about her involvement.

They’re starting to talk about doing a feature again‘ she confirmed. ‘Every year or two they talk about it again, but it seems like it might be for real this time. Somehow it seems like somebody’s really serious about it. I know that Chris’ lawsuit with Fox is over, so maybe now it can be done.

Echoing what her onscreen partner David Duchovny has already revealed, Anderson said that Chris Carter ‘wants to make a really scary horror, like a stand-alone episode. I don’t think they’re interested in touching on any of the conspiracy stuff.

inglorioussmall.jpgSlashfilm reports that with Grindhouse wrapped, Quentin Tarantino is once again looking to develop his long-gestating World War II ‘guys on a mission’ movie Inglorious Bastards.

I haven’t really done it in a big way in a long time where you spend six months doing it,‘ said the filmmaker. ‘But I also like writing on the road, it’s a really good time to do that so I will probably finish up Inglorious Bastards while I am promoting Grindhouse‘.

The Dirty-Dozen style story is named after a 1977 Italian low-budget action movie called Quel maledetto treno blindato, released in the US as Inglorious Bastards. Set in World War II, the story revolves around a group of soldiers led by a character called Babe Buchinsky on their way to be executed, when they get the chance of a reprieve. The story is rumored to already be 600+ pages long with former Tarantino favourites, other A-listers and movie veterans linked to varuious roles.

'Planet Terror' poster (Empire Magazine, April issue)While the faux exploitation double movie Grindhouse is released in US cinemas this week, other countries will get separate releases for the two film segments Death Proof and Planet Terror - but with added sequences.

The SCI-FI Wire conducted interviews with the cast and crew of the film during which it was revealed that several key scenes that were cut from the US release will be restored in the international version. These scenes include Vanessa Ferlito’s lap dance on Kurt Russell, a song by Mary Elizabeth Winstead, a funeral scene involving Michael Parks and Marley Shelton (in which Parks improvises lines based on a poem by E.E. Cummings), and a bedroom scene involving James Brolin (for which he gained nearly 30 pounds). American audiences may have to wait for the DVD release to see these scenes.

celebrsmall.jpgThe action figure exclusive for Star Wars Celebration IV and Star Wars Celebration Europe will give fans not one, but two super-collectible figures that never before have been available anywhere. Modeled after artist Ralph McQuarrie’s original concept illustrations for beloved droids R2-D2 and C-3PO, the figures celebrate the 30-year legacy of the Star Wars saga as well as the creative, guiding vision of McQuarrie, whose drawings helped George Lucas convince studio directors to back the very first Star Wars movie.

These figures will be packaged with their exclusive Celebration IV backer card and a commemorative coin, and are exclusively for sale at the initial retail price only at the upcoming events.

vincentsmall.jpgVincent, an early animated Tim Burton short will be converted into digital 3-D says The Hollywood Reporter.

The 1982 stop-motion short film written, designed and directed by Tim Burton and Rick Heinrichs is the story of a young boy, Vincent Malloy, who pretends to be like the actor Vincent Price. He is obsessed with the tales of Edgar Allan Poe, and it is his detachment from reality when reading them that leads to his delusions that he is in fact a tortured artist, deprived of the woman he loves, mirroring very much certain parts of Poe’s The Raven.

The film will play on 3-D-ready digital-cinema screens as the opening attraction to screenings of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas 3-D, which will be rereleased by the Disney in October.

The Impending Oil Crisis

quote I am a little leary of the situation. The truth will come out when, and if the US economy, and the dollar begins to strengthen. If prices remain high, you’ll know someone is lying. Either OPEC doesn’t have the supply they claim they have, or Analysts are incorrect when they say demand has decreased. Personally, I don’t buy the claim that demand has decreased. Population is ever increasing, so, the the demand should always be increasing. quote
