pottersmall.jpgPublishers Bloomsbury have released the cover art for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Click here to view the covers in the X-Realms gallery.

The wording from the rear cover of the book reads as follows:

‘Harry has been burdoned with a dark, dangerous and seemingly impossible task: that of locating and destorying Voldemort’s remaining Horcruxes. Never has Harry felt so alone, or faced a future so full of shadows. But Harry must somehow find within himself the strength to complete the task her has been given. He must leave the warmth, safety and companionship of The Burrow and follow without fear or hesitation the inexorable path laid out for him…

In this final, seventh installment of the Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling unveils in spectacular fashion the answers to the many questions that have been so eagerly awaited. The spellbinding, richly woven narrative, which plunges, twists and turns at a breathtaking pace, confirms the author as a mistress of storytelling, whose books will be read, reread and read again.’

The Queen star Helen Mirren has been brought in to play Nicolas Cage’s onscreen mother to help link Cage’s Ben Gates to his family’s connection to John Wilkes Booth and the mysterious Knights of the Gold Circle. Four time Oscar nominee Ed Harris will star as bad guy Jeb Wilkinson, who has some information about Gates’ father and aligns himself as an ally. The duo join returning cast members Diane Kruger, Justin Bartha and Harvey Keitel. The movie is scheduled for release on December 17th.

Tim Burton’s film - starring Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman, Timothy Spall, Sacha Baron Cohen and Christopher Lee - is an adaptation of the award winning musical-thriller by Steven Sondheim.

It tells the story of a man unjustly sent to prison, who vows revenge not only for that cruel punishment but for the devastating consequences of what happened to his wife and daughter. When he returns to reopen his barber shop, he becomes the Demon Barber of Fleet Street who “shaved the heads of gentleman who never thereafter were heard from again.”

X-FILES.jpgIESB.net has been talking to David Duchovny about two potential X-Files movie sequels.

In 2005, the New York-born thesp told IGN that he expected to shoot X-Files 2 before early 2006 and that it would not involve the television show’s alien conspiracy storyline but would have a standalone supernatural plot. After the film failed to materialize fans were left disappointed, but now it seems that the movie could be back on track with shooting scheduled to begin either this year or in 2008.

The actor confirmed that only the core characters will return and if the film is a success, a third outing will be on the cards.

raywinstonesmall.jpgThe Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Ray Winstone has joined Cate Blanchett in the cast of Indiana Jones IV.

Although the script is a closely guarded secret, apparently the British actor will play Harrison Ford’s sidekick. Based on a story by Jeff Nathanson, later polished up by George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and David Koepp, the fourth outing in the popular franchise will once again star Harrison Ford as the adventurous archaeologist.

Next up for Winstone is a performance-captured role in Beowulf from Robert Zemeckis.

deathrace2000small.jpgDreadcentral reports that director Paul W.S. Anderson has abandoned the Castlevania project he’d been working on as writer/director to concentrate on Death Race 3000.

Castlevania, based on the video game created and developed by Konami is about a war between the enchanted family bloodline of the Belmonts and Dracula. Almost every hundred years, Dracula is resurrected and it is up to the Belmonts to defeat him before he unleashes his wrath on the entire world.

Death Race 3000 is a remake of the 1975 cult action film Death Race 2000, set in a future dystopian American society where a transcontinental Road Race is staged with points being awarded to the competitors for killing members of the public. The movie starred David Carradine and Sylvester Stallone.

supergirlsmall.jpgAccording to a source at JoBlo, Warner Bros have commissioned a Supergirl script.

The site reports that the studio has started contacting managers and agents about possible ladies for the role with Battlestar Galactica’s Tricia Helfer on the shortlist.

Supergirl is a DC Comics superheroine created by Otto Binder and Al Plastino as part of Superman mythos in the late 1950s. Several versions of Supergirl appear in comic books, but the best-known incarnation is Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin. Like her cousin, Kara is a Kryptonian who possesses superhuman abilities such as self propelled flight and superstrength.

The Impending Oil Crisis

quote I am a little leary of the situation. The truth will come out when, and if the US economy, and the dollar begins to strengthen. If prices remain high, you’ll know someone is lying. Either OPEC doesn’t have the supply they claim they have, or Analysts are incorrect when they say demand has decreased. Personally, I don’t buy the claim that demand has decreased. Population is ever increasing, so, the the demand should always be increasing. quote
