McMahon as Dr. Doom in 'Fantastic Four'Julian McMahon recently spilled the beans about his character’s storyline in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer to ComingSoon.net. Speaking at the press junket for his new psychological thriller Premonition, the actor revealed:

‘You start with Dr. Doom has been in a casket for a couple of years and wakes up a few years later, whatever. And he’s pretty pissed off, kind of just rips off his mask and all that kind of stuff. He gets very ugly. And then he’s got his lair set up in some castle in Latveria, right? We’re talking comic book stuff so you have to kind of go with all this kind of stuff. With all these monitors and stuff, I don’t know where he got ‘em all from but they’re pretty cool. He sees this kind of entity which is the Silver Surfer.’

SpidermanTobey Maguire said in an interview that Spiderman 3 would be his final outing in the superhero franchise and director Sam Raimi doesn’t seem to be keen to go on with the series - but this doesn’t necessarily mean that the webslinger has no future on the bigscreen.

Speaking with Comics2Film, producer Avi Arad said: ‘This story has been going on a long time and it will continue going. There’s some issues that will come not to an end but to a conclusion, but Peter Parker’s story will continue forward. He’s still young. The love story will always be the ruling thing in his life. It’s always about the girl so, no, it’s just number three.’ A likely scenario is that any new film in the series would see a new actor don the Spiderman costume.

fantasyislandsmall.jpgAs the remakes and reimaginations of old movies, books and TV properties continue to emerge on an almost daily basis, one wonders if Hollywood is anywhere near the bottom of the creative barrel?  IESB reports that Eddie Murphy is set to star in a big screen remake of the Fantasy Island TV show starring Ricardo Montalban and Hervé Villechaize. Murphy will portray several different roles a la The Nutty Professor.

Airing from 1978 to 1984, the original series starred Montalban as Mr. Roarke, the enigmatic overseer of a mysterious island somewhere in the Pacific Ocean where people from all walks of life could come and live out their fantasies — for a price.  We expect Verne Troyer to be on standby.

willissmall.jpgIt look like Bruce Willis is adding another cameo role to his recent filmography by appearing in Ocean’s Thirteen. Slashfilm reports that after playing himself in Ocean’s Twelve, Willis will reprise the role in the sequel.

Willis was recently featured in The Astronaut Farmer in a multi-scene uncredited role and will make an uncredited appearance as Lt. Muldoon on the Planet Terror segment of Grindhouse. Next up for the veteran action star is Perfect Stranger and then a reprisal of his role as John McClane in Live Free or Die Hard.

monstersmall.jpgVariety reports that Universal have acquired the rights to the Nick Redfern novel Three Men Seeking Monsters: Six Weeks in Pursuit of Werewolves, Lake Monster, Giant Cats, Ghostly Devil Dogs, and Ape-Men.  The aim is to develop a film as a potential vehicle for Jon Heder of Napoleon Dynamite fame who will be seen next starring opposite Will Ferrell in Blades of Glory.

The book followed the drunken exploits of author Nick Redfern who teamed up with professional monster-hunters Jonathan Downes and Richard Freeman for six weeks in the summer of 2001 in hot pursuit of monsters. Their adventures led them deep into ancient forests, into the dark corridors of a mansion hiding a wild man, and to the shores of the legendary Loch Ness — along the way encountering all manner of curious characters, including witches, government agents, and eyewitnesses who claim to have seen monsters firsthand.

The Impending Oil Crisis

quote I am a little leary of the situation. The truth will come out when, and if the US economy, and the dollar begins to strengthen. If prices remain high, you’ll know someone is lying. Either OPEC doesn’t have the supply they claim they have, or Analysts are incorrect when they say demand has decreased. Personally, I don’t buy the claim that demand has decreased. Population is ever increasing, so, the the demand should always be increasing. quote
