gumpsmall.jpgCinemablend reports that a Forrest Gump sequel could be on the cards. Back in 2001 Eric Roth penned a sequel screenplay to his 1994 Oscar-winning hit Forrest Gump based upon Winston Groom’s novel Gump & Co. The script has has been gathering dust ever since but now it apears that producers Steve Tisch and Wendy Finerman have pulled it out of the archives.

The story takes place several years after the events of the first film and follows Gump as he stumbles through important historical events once again, this time through incidents in the 1980s and 90s including a meeting with actor Tom Hanks. Finerman and Tisch are apparently in early talks with Tom Hanks and Gary Sinise about reprising their roles.

real-dsmall.jpgAccording to Real D there could soon be about 700 installed screens in the US equipped with their 3-D Cinema technology. This shows a major improvement in deployment since November 2005, when the Walt Disney Co.’s Chicken Little debuted on only about 84 3-D-ready digital-cinema screens in North America.

Real D has now announced new agreements with Regal Entertainment Group, AMC Entertainment Inc. and Cinemark to kit out hundreds of theaters for the March 30 release of Meet the Robinsons.  Real D claims that the company soon will have installations in nearly every major U.S. city and 13 other countries with 3-D installations exceeding 1,000 screens by the end of 2007.

tattoosmall.jpgIn a surprising act of generosity, His Dark Materials author Philip Pullman has shunned Hollywood to give the film rights to his acclaimed novel The Butterfly Tattoo to a small independent Dutch company that promotes youth acting. Dynamic Entertainment, or DEH, have the option to adapt the book in exchange for giving Pullman a nominal 10 per cent of the low budget picture’s eventual revenue.

Accoring to the Independent, the producers hope to begin filming the ‘modern Shakespearean tragedy’ in August. They are close to raising the £140,000 required by selling stakes in the movie at £35 a share.

The book is a tragic love story about a teenager who falls in love with a girl that he meets whilst working at an Oxford ball. As their relationship blossoms, tragedy and violence wait in the wings as the youngtser’s boss has a shady past which won’t stay hidden, and his enemies use the two teenagers to exact their revenge on him.

The Impending Oil Crisis

quote I am a little leary of the situation. The truth will come out when, and if the US economy, and the dollar begins to strengthen. If prices remain high, you’ll know someone is lying. Either OPEC doesn’t have the supply they claim they have, or Analysts are incorrect when they say demand has decreased. Personally, I don’t buy the claim that demand has decreased. Population is ever increasing, so, the the demand should always be increasing. quote
