Sin City director Frank Miller has released a teaser poster via IGN for the movie he is writing and directing based on Eisner’s stylish 1940s comic strip The Spirit.
The Spirit (real name Denny Colt) is a fictional American masked crime-fighter, created by Will Eisner in 1940, who starred in a Sunday-newspaper comic-book insert. The artwork was heavily influenced by the dramatic angles and lighting Orson Welles employed in Citizen Kane and Miller has promised a film adaptation of The Spirit that is ‘faithful, but not nostalgic.’

In an exclusive video interview with IESB, George Lucas has revealed more information about the upcoming Clone Wars 3D animated series and debunked a long standing rumor about Indy IV. Despite the fact that the interviewer didn’t seem to be aware that there are two Star Wars TV shows in the pipeline, some interesting information was revealed:
Firstly, when asked if Natalie Portman will be in Indiana Jones IV, Lucas replied ‘no, absolutely not.’
On the subject of the Clone Wars 3D TV show, Lucas said that the main characters will be joined by Osoka, a young female padawan (similar to the Togruta species of Shaak Ti) on her first assignment. Stories will be based upon different Jedi than those featured in the original microseries. When asked if bounty hunter Boba Fett might also make an appearance in the animated show, Lucas replied ‘That is possible, but he’s still a little kid, remember that’. Lucas was tight-lipped on whether fans could expect a trailer at Celebration IV, but was amused by the question. He also confirmed that the ‘Skywalkers are done’ and there will be no Episodes 7-9. Veteran star Richard Dreyfuss is set to join Zooey Deschanel and Alan Cumming in the cast of SCI FI Channel’s upcoming miniseries Tin Man, a reimagined fantasy take on Frank Baum’s book The Wizard of Oz, reports Variety. Dreyfuss will play the Mystic Man, a character based on the wizard from Baum’s classic book.
Tin Man is a sometimes psychedelic, often twisted and always bizarre take on The Wizard of Oz. It centers on DG (Deschanel), a young woman plucked from her humdrum life and thrust into The Outer Zone (the O.Z.), a fantastical realm filled with wonder, but oppressed by dark magic. Cumming plays Glitch, an odd man missing half his brain, who joins DG on her journey down the fabled Old Road that leads to the Mystic Man. The other two roles—Raw, a quietly powerful wolverine-like creature longing for inner courage, and Cain, a heroic former policeman seeking vengeance for his scarred heart—have not yet been cast.

SCI FI Wire has been chatting with Lena Headey, who is set to star in the Fox SF drama pilot and Terminator movie franchise spinoff show, The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Headey has revealed that the show will begin with a confrontation between her character; her son, John Connor played by Thomas Dekker (Heroes); and two new Terminators: a female model, played by Summer Glau (Serenity), and a male one, which she called Cromartie, played by Owain Yeoman. One is good and one is bad; she didn’t say which is which. Glau’s character is named Cameron, an apparent nod to Terminator franchise creator James Cameron.
The pilot show, which is set after the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, begins in the desert, and ‘it ends with them landing in L.A., having run and escaped. Or maybe not’.

Terrence Howard has been talking to VH1 about Iron Man and the character of Jim Rhodes, a pilot and close associate of Tony Stark who in the original comic became a hero in his own right: War Machine.
‘Seeing Iron Man [do] battle [in] the original suit that he made — crashing into a car and flipping me off like I’m nothing — [it doesn’t] even affect him! Me? [My character will be] sitting there waiting — lusting for the opportunity to have my own power’ said Howard, ‘…depending on the success of the first one, War Machine [won’t be in until] the second one’.
Iron Man, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow is based on the classic Marvel comic book tells the story of a troubled billionaire scientist who creates a life support suit to assist him after a life threatening accident, and ultimately decides to use its technology to fight evil and crime. The movie is scheduled for release May 2, 2008.
