Hostel: Part IIA first high-resolution poster for Eli Roth’s upcoming Hostel: Part II slasher film has gone online at Latino Review. It very violent and features nudity, and you can see it here.

In Hostel: Part II, Roth invites fans to take another frightening trip where suppressed urges – once unleashed – have chilling consequences. The film has three young Americans studying in Rome set off for a weekend trip when they run into a beautiful model from one of their art classes. Also on her way to an exotic destination, the gorgeous European invites the coeds to come along, assuring them they will be able to relax and rejuvenate. Will the girls find the oasis they are looking for? Or are they poised to become victims for hire, pawns in the fantasies of the sick and privileged from around the world who secretly travel here to savor more grisly pursuits?

A Minbari Cruiser in Babylon 5: The Lost TalesJ. Michael Straczynski is currently hard at work on the upcoming direct-to-video Babylon 5 movie The Lost Tales, and has now posted the two first images on his blog.

The first of the two ‘personal photos’ shows the sleek new logo for title sequence. The other is a CGI shot depicting the Babylon 5 space station and various spaceships - among them an enormous Minbari cruiser - in orbit around a planet. The picture’s subscript ominously reads: ‘Hmmm, we wonder what THIS shot is doing in the new B5 movie…?’ You can view both images here, where you will also find latest updates from JMS on the status of the movie.

grindhousesmall2.jpgHostel director Eli Roth has been talking to Comingsoon.net about his fake Grindhouse trailer.

‘There’s this slasher movie my friend Jeff and I’ve been dreaming about,’ said Roth, ’cause growing up in Massachusetts, Thanksgiving is the biggest f*ckin’ deal, it’s ALL you hear about. Every year, there was a new slasher movie and it was a different holiday… it was ‘My Bloody Valentine,’ ‘Friday the 13th,’ ‘Halloween,’ ‘Silent Night, Deadly Night.’ I’m like, ‘How can they not have done Thanksgiving?’ I’m like, ‘What are they going to start doing? Passover Massacre?’ So when Quentin said, ‘Dude, you gotta do a trailer!’ and I was like ‘Thanksgiving! It’s my 1981 slasher movie, I’ve been dying to do it for years!’ We had all the gags worked out.’

In English speaking territories the faux trailer will be shown between the Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodruigez segments of Grindhouse joining efforts by Rob Zombie and Edgar Wright. Click here to read the full interview.

two-facesmall.jpgAaron Eckhart has been speaking to MTV about the role of Harvey Dent aka Two-Face in The Dark Knight, Christopher Nolan’s sequel to Batman Begins.

‘I am excited. Christopher Nolan is an amazing director,’ said Eckhart, ‘It’s another movie that’s a dream come true.’

According to Eckhart, in many ways, Dent’s transformation into Two-Face mirrors Bruce Wayne’s own journey from millionaire playboy to costumed crime-fighter. ‘Batman is a complex character, and Two-Face comes a little bit from the same world,” Eckhart insisted. ‘But [at the same time] he’s apart from it. I’m looking for the tension between the two, the similarities between the two,’ Eckhart said of his portrayal. ‘I want to find what’s similar to Batman and then find what’s opposite to him.’

Eckhart confirmed that Dent will physically become Two-Face in The Dark Knight but dodged the question of whether it’s the Joker that is responsible for his injuries.

forceunleashedsmall1.jpgGeorge Lucas will be personally overseeing an original graphic novel from Dark Horse Comics based on the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Unleashed video game, according to the official Star Wars website.

New revelations about the Star Wars galaxy will be unveiled in a detailed graphic novel from Haden Blackman that fleshes out the story behind the game, which casts players as Darth Vader’s “Secret Apprentice.” The story, created under direction from George Lucas, is set during the largely unexplored era between Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. In it, the Secret Apprentice — whose role players assume in the video game — assists the iconic villain in his quest to rid the universe of Jedi. But in carrying out Vader’s will, the Apprentice is faced with decisions that could change the course of the galaxy.

In addition to new adversaries, including fugitive Jedi and Force-sensitive Felucians, The Force Unleashed also includes familiar faces from the films of the Star Wars Saga, including Darth Vader. The Force Unleashed recasts the scope and scale of the Force in a way that fans have never seen or experienced.

Martin Scorsese backstage with his Best Director Oscar for 'The Departed'Last night’s Academy Awards ceremony saw The Departed go out on top. The film won four out of the five Oscars it was nominated for, including the Best Picture award and the Best Director Prize for Martin Scorsese. With three wins Pan’s Labyrinth nabbed the second highest amount of Oscars but failed to emerge victorious in the Best Foreign Film category.

The acting Oscars went to Helen Mirren, Forest Whitaker, Jennifer Hudson and Alan Arkin, while The Inconventient Truth won Best Documentary and Happy Feet Best Animated Picture. You can relive everything that happened during the Oscar night by reviewing our live commentary post from earlier tonight.

05:17 am - Ellen DeGeneres says goodnight and the ceremony is over. The Departed is the big winner of the evening with four Oscars: Picture, Directing, Adapted Screenplay and Editing. Pan’s Labyrinth actually got decorated with the second highest amount of Oscars tonight, getting one each for Cinematography, Art Direction and Make-Up. Meanwhile, Little Miss Sunshine, Dreamgirls and An Inconventient Truth won two Oscars each. Apart from del Toro missing out on the Best Foreign Film award I am happy with the direction the prizes went. Four of the five nominees for Best Picture were in my top ten list for 2006, and I would have been happy seeing any of them win. Martin Scorsese definitely deserves to see his The Departed go out on top because it’s a remarkable film, and because he’s created so many truly great movies already and always went out empty handed until now.

The Impending Oil Crisis

quote I am a little leary of the situation. The truth will come out when, and if the US economy, and the dollar begins to strengthen. If prices remain high, you’ll know someone is lying. Either OPEC doesn’t have the supply they claim they have, or Analysts are incorrect when they say demand has decreased. Personally, I don’t buy the claim that demand has decreased. Population is ever increasing, so, the the demand should always be increasing. quote
