Hugh Grant is in talks with the BBC about to playing a villain in the next series of Doctor Who.
The 46 -year-old Music And Lyrics star was originally offered the part of the Timelord but rejected it, a role which was later taken by Christopher Eccleston.
‘I was offered the role of the Doctor a few years back and was highly flattered.‘ said Grant, ‘The danger with those things is that it’s only when you see it on the screen that you think, ‘Damn, that was good, why did I say no? I’m in talks about a one-off role. I’d prefer to be a baddie. They’re always much more fun to play.’

An an interview with Infuze magazine, producer Ralph Winter gave a progress update on the movie adaptation of C.S. Lewis’ The Screwtape Letters.
‘It’s in development with Fox and Walden Media’ said Winter, ‘Fox has owned the property for decades. They bought it in the 50s. There was management at Fox that wanted it and bought it, and they’ve owned it for decades.‘
When asked about the current status of the project, Winter said ‘We’re signing deals right now. We’re finishing the Fox option deal, we’re finishing my deal with Walden. Doug Gresham’s deal is done. We’ve been talking to Randall Wallace about writing and directing. We need to have more discussions with Fox and Walden about that, and make sure that Randy’s still available. Everybody wants to make this movie; I think it’s going to happen, I just don’t know what the timetable is right now.’
